[Spoilers] Bookworm WN Discussion Thread
-
I don't think there's anywhere to talk about the later parts atm...
More words to make that preview snippet on the forum page not spoilery...Random thoughts going into p3:
I'm looking forward to meeting the new cast again over the next two parts! Wilfreed and Hasse are up first, but kids room is only a couple volumes away. (Also, I'm still bitterly disappointed that Myne never gets a giant flying book as a beast.)p4:
Best part - going to die waiting for it. How could one live without a proper library? (Oh, and library committee and friends too I guess... Hannerlore go! I was totally expecting her to be evil/manipulative at that first tea party. I'm glad I was so very wrong.)p5:
Somewhat sad that Myne shows no interest in collecting stories from other countries... it's completely out of character... -
I don't think they allow any WN spoilers on this forum. Have to look elsewhere for it. We could only discuss WN topic, as long as its been spoiled in the translated Light Novel. So anything before Part 3 could be discussed. Nothing after
-
We don’t allow any in the volume discussion threads, this topic is perfectly fine, and the title is well labeled.
-
Am just finishing Part 4, with just some side stories left.
-
@Rahul-Balaggan how blatant should we be here? Should we do spoiler tags or is it literally enter at own risk and up to the users to block/ignore on their own?
Because I know even in threads marked spoilers you’ll have people complaining they got spoiled. -
The title has "Spoilers" in the title & WN, so everything is fair game.
If no spoiler tags are used that is fine, if users want to use tags, for dramatic effect or some such that will be fine too.
-
Though do keep in mind the forum preview show the beginning part of the post, so preferably don't start your post with spoilers since they'll be shown to everyone in the subforum. (Honestly not a fan of WN spoilers being so close to the spoiler-free discussion in general but if someone clicks I guess it's their responsibility).

Thank you kindly
I’ll probably do a write up later then need to reread some sections cheers -
I could move it to the Web Novel Discussions Section
-
@Rahul-Balaggan I think I would prefer that yeah. I don't want to impose on the developing culture of the bookworm subforum or anything but I do feel that the majority of LN readers won't want to see this thread and it's kind of an accident waiting to happen. (If a post starts with "X Character Dies!" and it gets broadcasted to the subforum for instance... Someone misclicks and then they're spoiled hardcore... etc)
-
Done,
Welcome to your new home Bookworm WN thread, let's see how much activity it gets (or doesn't get)
-
@Rahul-Balaggan Could I suggest that the thread title be updated to include the word "Bookworm" now that it is no longer in the Bookworm subforum.
-
Where can I read the webnovel version? (hopefully english) thanks
-
Hello!
The webnovel for Ascendance of a Bookworm is not officially licensed for translation, so if you wish to read it, then it will be in Japanese, and can be found at the following URL: https://ncode.syosetu.com/n4830bu/

I'm the only one who thought the author would do something more with _______?

Danuel
Personally i always thought that a rumors of hin and Rosemyne having s** or something along those lines would start as revenge of the dead knight's mother, specially when Wilfred went to talk to his grandmother. -
the fact that Myne noble family knows she is a commoner.
-
Lutz feelings for Rosemyne, and how he end up with Tully, and how Lutz older brother reacts to that.
-
Rosemyne adopting Dirk.
-
Delia's shop on the noble's area.
-
the fact that Rosemyne way of thinking could very easily end up ending the monarchy in the country, and its possible consequences in the others countries. especially with all the power and influence she gets by the end of the story.
-
the fact that Alexandria is rule by ex-lords candidates of edenfes.
-
the fact that Rosemyne had a goddess inside of her, and this can led to a war with others countries.
-
the pregnant woman in the orphanage.

I don't see this as happening, like even for a rumor it's too unbelievable. Her closeness and trust in him is easily explained away by him being assigned to her as penance and him saving her life from a foreign attack.
- the fact that Myne noble family knows she is a commoner.
There isn't much more they could do with it, but it did lead to a massively touching moment with Elvira though.
- Lutz feelings for Rosemyne, and how he end up with Tully, and how Lutz older brother reacts to that.
I think this one is the most annoying, I agree something more should have been done but I am waiting to see if it is slightly rewritten from the WN to the LN. I genuinely think though Lutz and Tuuli both go into engagement with the idea for following Myne but they spend more time together than Lutz has had with Myne so it's believable feelings grow between them. Besides reality speaking Lutz acted more like a brother and friend towards Myne so even though he might have a form of love for here it's no where near as powerful as his feelings will be for Tuuli after puberty.
- Rosemyne adopting Dirk.
That one just stunk of loose end tying up, maybe when she was writing the WN people kept asking what she was going to do about the Dirk contract. It's still a bit of a loose end though especially now with Ehrenfest's solution to lack of population.
- Delia's shop on the noble's area.
I think you mean Frieda, Delia can't leave the orphanage. Frieda isn't old enough to own her own store yet and is still managing the Restaurant. When she has to move in with Damuel's brother as a live in Mistress I'm sure they're going to be fine. What's more interesting is what would have happened if Frieda had learned Rozemyne's mana compression.
- the fact that Rosemyne way of thinking could very easily end up ending the monarchy in the country, and its possible consequences in the others countries. especially with all the power and influence she gets by the end of the story.
Not really, changing culture and established behaviors takes a long long time. Especially with oral traditions. Just take the song 'Ring-a-ring-a-rosie' it's been in various forms in writing since 1881 so records of it are loosely attributing it to the 1665 plague and it's arising after then. Yet kids kept singing variations of it for hundreds of years passing it down from one generation to the next. In this world books aren't common and literacy is even less so, hence their reliance on passed down stories and Bards explaining things. Not to mention the demand that the top of society spreads new trends and it passes down to the others through time.
Even with all her power by the end and having Hartmut and Clarrisa able toforceconvince other nobles to do Rozemyne's bidding would take generations for any of her changes to become common. Sure they could be implemented but in that world she wouldn't see it widely adopted till she was much older.- the fact that Alexandria is rule by ex-lords candidates of edenfes.
This one is easy though, it's established if you take the foundation of another territory you own it. It's the truest form of Ditter. They even go into a lot of that when Rozemyne discovers the history of why Ehrenfest is only 200 years old, Rozemyne was also shown to be an Incarnation of a Goddess that alone would stop most rebels. But she might be dealing with remnants of Georgine/Deitlinde's faction for a while but I think between Ferdinand, Hartmut and Cornelius that faction is gonna be relegated to hidden room whingefests only.
- the fact that Rosemyne had a goddess inside of her, and this can led to a war with others countries.
Maybe, I mean that's kinda happening with Hannalore. But Rozemyne is already pretty much locked down. Not only that but would you really want to tempt the wrath of the gods by screwing around with their representatives just when you discovered how much the country was screwed by ignoring them?
- the pregnant woman in the orphanage.
Lilly is there to take over from Wilma, that's it but if you mean more pregnant women in the orphanage then I guess it's more one of those 'too annoying to deal with' factors writers often just relegate to the 'dealt with in the background'. However Orphange staff seem to have their personal needs and wants educated away or suppressed hard for good reason.

@TeoPadilla Item 3 was the big one for me.

I stumbled on this thread accidentally and wanted to share some thoughts.
I started Bookworm series late last year and have been hooked ever since. I am following the LN translations in JNC now. However, in binge read mode I finished reading the rest of the webnovel with Machine Translation.
I want to express my appreciation and gratitude to JNC and @Quof for doing an amazing job of the translations! MTL was so clunky and I had to replace multiple established words from legit translations in my head while binge-reading the rest in the web novel.I am still looking forward to the new stories, developments and details in the LNs as they seem to be a lot more detailed and with much better pacing than the Web novel. I will continue to follow them and have the fun ride in the forums as well.
I also recommend the Short story storage in the Web novel site if you can tolerate the MTL. There was a few unique ones.
