Is there a way to set it so you get notifications of when new prepub sections are posted for reading?

It is just a bit hard to keep track of them and remember if you have read the latest one listed or not with no way to track when they go up or if you already read it.

I have not seen any method notification. I use the release calendar, which is available from the main page's menu under releases. Then scroll down to current date.

It only works if you keep reasonably up to date, but is the best I have found.

A generic RSS feed is the only way right now (on the main site). The beta site does have some more specific RSS feeds you can setup for followed series and such. You can find more details about those in the pinned beta topic: https://forums.j-novel.club/topic/3427/beta-website-feedback?page=1

@heimdal7 We will be adding push notifications to the new app in the future. For now, if you use it, you can have the latest releases of series you follow listed on the main screen. The RSS feeds for individual series as well as a user's follows are also available

@chocolatkey Ah no plans to add something like that to the website though? I use a text to speech program in browser to read most story type things due to bad eyes to reduce strain.

@heimdal7 we have considered adding push notifications in browsers too, but at a later date due to lack of support in Safari. Implementing the in the app is easier so it will be done first. The app will be available on Windows, OSX and Linux at a later date as well

@chocolatkey Push notifications are browser agnostic and doesn't require anything on the client side. By adding PNs to your server your apps and browsers will automagically receive notifications. They're delivered via URL that will ether launch an app or open a browser window (if an app isn't installed for that URL).

@geowar1 actually, thanks to Apple, browser push notifications are not browser agnostic. I have not yet set up FCM (Firebase Cloud Messaging), which we would be using, but according to Google's support matrix as well as the caniuse matrix and this article, Safari is the outlier as usual. Apple does have a custom, safari-only alternative, which seems like a pain. I would rather get PNs working in the app first, and maybe in the meantime, Apple will implement the standard almost all other browsers have available. If not, maybe this will be revisited when the time comes.

@chocolatkey Could not the little bell notifications like in the forums be used? I know y'all didn't program the forums but is something like that copyable?

@LegitPancake we'll look into it when the time comes for implementing notifications.
