Grimgar question
-
Only really subscribed because I wanted to read grimgar, might try some other books, but, I noticed grimgar volume 8 is concluding soon. I wanted to know if jnovel intends to keep translating the volumes after because I couldn’t see anything in the release calendar. Is there a way this normally goes?
-
@luke-caldwell yes they will countinue translating and that’s how it normally goes.
-the typical system at JNC is that after a Volume is fully translated there is a 1-2 week break
-they don’t add the release date to the schedule because they have to translate the cover image and approve it.
-that is like the last thing they do after part 1 has already been translated.
-so the future volumes will just randomly be put into the schedule same day (or day before) the first part goes up.
-
This really needs to be put in a FAQ or a sticky thread or something - people ask the same question over & over & over & over... ...& over because it isn't clear, so it's natural they'd worry about it.
Just something somewhere saying "If a series is cancelled/dropped, we will state so clearly. Otherwise assume the next volume is either on the way or not even published in Japan yet" or something like that.

@smashman42 I feel that it's pretty unreasonable to jump to the conclusion that "there's no news automatically must mean the worst outcome is probably happening" though :/
Like, you could notice that no series have a release schedule for any book beyond the book currently being translated, so maybe that's just how the schedule works. I dunno, maybe critical thinking isn't "in" this year.

Well, I would jump to conclusions... But we've done this song and dance a few times, and it almost always results in us getting the volume eventually on a slight delay if anything. I don't doubt we'll get more Grimgar and catch up unless something crazy happened.
... I am still a bit worried about SisKan despite Sam's reassurances though.
(And, unrelated, I'm freaking out about no new Sound Euphonium from Yen Press; really sucks, since I don't want to watch the show until I've read the series).

Hate to break it to you, but this problem is hardly a this year thing. :P
People keep asking the question regardless of whether that is reasonable or not, so it's best to deal with that reality, yeah?
People are lazy, so if you want to take their money spoon feed them. For every person asking this, there could be ten more that don't complain but don't buy as they're assuming the worst. That "the customer is always right" rule is always followed by the less well publicised but no less true second rule, "the customer is always an idiot".

Don’t worry about Siskan it will come.
Worry about sound Euphonium, they only licensed the first novel and based on sales they would license the rest, at this point I assume the sales were not good for the first novel cause it has been all quiet on the western front.

@smashman42 I agree this question is out of control, however I honestly believe people would post on the forums well before they read the FAQ page, just my opinion.
-
@rahul-balaggan true that, though the FAQ might stop some of them (okay, one in ten at best)
-
@rahul-balaggan I dunno - you have more Siskan faith than I. I think rightfully San would prioritize the continued growth of JNC over his translation and I could see him not getting around to it, despite his best efforts.
