Your favourite light novel couples?
-
Anyone who happens to read my posts would realise that I am a big fan of novel "ships" though I am often at the wrong end of a series of choices and frequently heartbroken when my ship does not happen. Looking at you Bookworm...
Now, without indicating my favourite ships from light novels whom are everyone's favourites?
Not limiting the number per person, though if that helps, let's say top 5?
I'm hoping there are a few choices from novels I have not read which may expand on my novel repertoire. -
I like Souma and Naden in How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom, and how that series handles polyamory in general. The scene of their first kiss left an impression on me, and I like the combination of how they can relax around each other and how they can do more together than separately by combining their special abilities.
I like Princess Mia and Prince Abel in Tearmoon Empire. It's amusing to see their interactions. It seems like whether they will end up together depends on which timeline they end up in. The multiple timelines are part of what I like about that story.

Honestly, when I consume any form of entertainment, I look for heartbreak and strife more then a happy ending, so there are very few instances where I root for a relationship, instead I look forward to the heartbreak along the way.
I am talking about the Andou and Kudou from Supernatural Battles
I am talking about Katsuragi and Chihiro from The World God Only Knows
The few pairs that I am looking forward to, should they ever be:
Goblin Slayer x Priestess
Diablo x Shera & RemAlso not LN but the manga duo of
Nozaki x Sakura from Gekkan Shoujo

Ah, very interesting choices, all of whom I approve of. Though I will come to regret it, my current ship for Goblin Slayer is with Sword Maiden (though it will likely never be).
I guess I have always been a lover of the happy endings, kind of like the fairy tails of old and sadly why I write novels which will eventually culminate in this ending or a bitter sweet end.Since it is only fair, I quite enjoy the almost pure romances shown by the following in no particular order:
Mai and Sakuta from Bunny girl Senpai.
Stella and Ikki from Rakudai
Kirito and Asuna from SOA (yes, how mainstream!)
Rin and Emiya (Archer) from FateOr my current ship, just because it seems to share so many themes of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet:
Alice and Iska from Kimisen. So borrowing the catchphrase from an ever so popular light novel series which began my current path , always remember "Love is all"

Gotta say I agree with all your choices... Alice and Iska/Rin Shirou are certainly two of my all timers... I do also favour harems too so Arifureta has a harem.of.choice for me
I'm also huge on Harayuki and Kuroyukihime from Accel World...

sort of a "throuple"
Kuzuhiho x Ms. Elf x Elder DragonYea, only the first two are currently romantic but the dragon (well her Avatar at least) seems to be ready/willing to join in

Good question!
From stuff here on J-novel...
I'll second @strangeattractor with Abel and Mia. That's some adorable blushing flirtiness.
And I'll go ahead and add Marielle and Simeon from the various Marielle Clarac novels. They are just too perfectly imperfect, and somehow make a better couple for it.
Outside of J-novel
A romantic relationship between them is still developing but Oreki and Chitanda from Hyouka would also make the list. If you have ever had someone you just can't seem get off your mind, then you can probably relate.
Holo and Lawrence, Spice and Wolf. There was never a question of if they would end up together, not from the moment she woke in the back of his wagon and asked for some wine, but watching it slowly play out and build up over the course of the series was great.
And finally, stretching the meaning of the word couple a little, Araragi and Shinobu from Bakemonogatari. It's not romantic, in the typical sense, but the two of them are... bound together... as a couple and watching their interplay is amazing.
Honorable mention goes to the greatest menage a trois in light novels... Lutz x Myne x Books!

Does [favorite character] x happiness count? I’ve got a lot of those.
To list some JNC ones I like that I haven’t seen mentioned here yet, Zagan x Nephy (and Chastille x Barbatos, and Selphy x Lilith, and heck really any Archdemon’s Dilemma ship, they’re all cute), Katarina x Maria, Vina Ruu x Shumiral, Nanalie x Alois... I tend to like “plausible” and canon ships since I like seeing characters happy, though Ferdinand x Eckhart still sits unfulfilled in my heart.
For non-JNC stuff there’s too much to count, but I’d be remiss to not even bring up Narumitsu since that’s the majority of my AO3 content. I’m also a big & person, I love family and close friend dynamics. It’s why I love the OMGs (Older Male Guardians) of Bookworm so much.

I approve all the couples above.
Others that I'd like to add are Sousuke and Kaname from Fullmetal Panic, Issei and his harem from Highschool DxD, Momota kun and Orihara from Slightly older girlfriend, Saigi and Maka sensei from Boku no kanojo sensei, Koutarou and his harem from Rokujouma. -
Flio and Rys in Chillin'
Have to say that they're one of the more active couples out there. -
Hmmm. Favorite, to me, implies one. While there are a lot that I like, I would say that my favorite would have to have:
- an actual relationship
- stability for the long term
- potential for the future
- appeal to me as a reader
That being said, I'm torn between
- Souma x Liscia
- Yuuto x Mitsumi
ETA:
The totally not real catastrophe ship...
Regis x RozemyneMy mind shudders at the prospect.
-
Ferdinand x soup
-
William x (spoiler1) x (spoiler2) from Faraway Paladin

After having a failed relationship myself, I've become lot less likely of shipping characters, probably because I don't want any sort of relationship myself either. Still, while I can't say a favourite, there are some I have and still do root strongly for:
Campfire Cooking: Mukohda x ANY FEMALE
Mukohda's romantic luck is absolutely horrible and at this point I just want him to find someone. Out of all the more comedic Isekai I've read, I feel Mukohda has it the absolute worst, despite being rich, having access to modern goods, being almost unkillable, etc. Sui is cute so he is fine, but if I had to constantly cook for overgrown, impatient children like Fel and Dora-chan and being dragged around by them, I'd quickly become insane.Mixed Bathing: Touya x Haruno
I rarely ship any characters, but it is even rarer that I ship the obvious main pairing. This is the rare exception, as seeing these two together is just way too heartwarming. That said, I do ship Touya x his whole harem together, due to how well written and sweet his relationship with all the girls are, even if not necessarily romantical in nature most of the time.Death March: Satou x Arisa & Lulu
I'm just hoping Satou would eventually fulfil his promise of marrying the two of them if they are still single after x amount of years (forgot how many it was). Oh, and this is the more common case where I don't ship the more obvious main pairing.Realist Hero: Souma x Naden & Juna
I used to ship them strongly, but once they actually married? I actually ended up losing my interest in them. -

Yes, it's getting silly that he hasn't grown a spine and found someone after 10 volumes. I get that he's timid, but the joke's worn thin.

Death March: Satou x Arisa & Lulu
I'm just hoping Satou would eventually fulfil his promise of marrying the two of them if they are still single after x amount of years (forgot how many it was).It was either 5 or 10 years, or possibly both if the author messed up :)
I've always liked that Satou was only interested in 20-somethings and older (waaaay older in one case) but once Arisa and Lulu are in their twenties I'd be fine with him keeping his promise.

As long as the ship comes with plenty of anti-shipping missiles and a few phalanx turrets for defense, I'm happy.
