Where to buy J-Novel Club Prints in Europe
-
Title pretty much.
Really hard to find the physical books there as half of the titles are sometimes not listed
or the wrong physical book is linked with one of the ebooks
someone gotta clean that up. -
@ephidiel Please contact Amazon support to let them know this is a problem. We are unable to do anything from our side because this is from Amazon's automatic linking process, we have no control over how titles get linked.
-
You’d think that ISBN# would be a “thing” and everything would link up properly… Amazon just doesn’t care- cheaper to process returns than to make it right?
-
@myskaros are there alternative sellers for the physical books in europe?
-
not sure of the intricacies of VAT but BookDepository (London based)seems to have them
so does Wordery
-
@jon-mitchell The ISBNs for physical and ebook are different, no? So don't see how that would help in linking them.

wasn't my point - if one were in Europe and wanted physical but didn't want Amazon---bookdepository or Wordery fill the niche
and collection seems much better curated on Wordery vs Amazon= search for "bookworm" select author and "paperback" - 11 volumes in stock - clearly states which is manga which is LN - could use info/ISBN obtained to buy wherever ---basically amazon doesn't have an excuse for not having things labeled properly- when other sites can label properly - (I was answering a question specifically about physicals in Europe- that apparently isn't a 'hot mess' like amazon appears to be )
-
@jon-mitchell yea if i want to deal with customs i would straight up order from the US.
UK is not part of the EU anymore so i'm not gonna order there. Also Wordery has non available for some reason
-
@ephidiel
ok that's kind of not good- maybe time to invest in a good e-reader. I know that there is something about paper that's just better but if you can't get the books... -
@ephidiel I believe I’ve heard some Europeans special ordering English light novels from their local bookstore.
-
@jon-mitchell i already have an ereader but i specifically want those for my physical collection
-
@legitpancake will try that instead.
Convenience of the internet and all just made me forget that local bookstores exist -

I've shifted most of my amazon.uk purchases to amazon.de after brexit. I don't use it for light novels, but checking on Bookworm, they've got all 14 kindle editions, but only 3 print volumes are showing up.
-
Until I looked I didn't realize how few online retailers there seemed to be outside of the USA/UK for books in English- I did find 1 (other than amazon.de)
@ephidiel @myskaros
Bol.com in the Netherlands carrys the paperbacks in Englishbookfinder.com gave me a bunch of results that will ship to the EU but none IN the EU ( strangely Alibris has in ALL CAPS that they won't ship to Denmark) Alibris, BookDepository (in the UK) Abebooks (USA) , Powells
-
@jon-mitchell yea every since Brexit this has been getting harder and harder
i used to order from bookdepository in the UK
but now every single book shipped by them gets stuck in the custom
and dhl in germany sucks -
-
Kennys.ie (Irish) is one option, though they may not have comprehensive selection.
As mentioned a few times already, special order from local bookstores should be an option in most cases where anything else fails. Assuming of course it's still in stock wherever they order it from...
-
@ephidiel if you are German thalia.de has all bookworm novels and some other JNC stuff I stopped ordering on Amazon and only buy them there now.
They even have the Bakemonogatari series box sets. If you subscribe to the newsletter, you often get a 10-15% off non-German books coupon usable on stock and preorders.
I also saw some YenPress and SevenSeas novels. But I didn't find some older novels (like earlier index novels).
Also, you can always go to a bookstore and ask if they order you an international book.
PS: the packaging is as bad as with Amazon.

Hello,
I have gone ahead and changed the title of this topic to, "Where to buy J-Novel Club Prints in Europe", as the main intention of the topic itself has quickly shifted into a discussion on where to purchase print editions of Light Novels.
This was done to keep the topic in line, and also in case others search for information related to buying Physical releases in Europe.

@rahul-balaggan okay then here a cleaner post:
I only looked at two German online stores besides amazon.de and only bought from the first
- probably the biggest store based bookseller in Germany
- Some older long-running series have missing volumes
- Nearly identical bad packaging as Amazon
- Delivery time for in stock books 3-4 business days
- No delivery fee for books in Germany
- Send to postbox (DHL Packstation)
- Can be delivered to local Thalia branch store and paid on site
- Easy return policy (button in order, PDF with post label)
- Online shop won't show you what you already bought
- Newsletter subscribers often get coupons (10-15% off) for English or non-German books (every (other) month, at least for the last half year)
- International delivery (link with prices and countries https://www.thalia.de/shop/hilfe-versand/show/)
- International order can be paid with PayPal
- Also has some missing volumes in long-running series
- No delivery fee for books in Germany
- No international delivery (except Austria)
I would be interested in other shops in the European Union selling English physical light novels.
