A Japanese mystery light novel series written by Nanako Tsujimura and illustrated by Utako Yukihiro.

      [MAL Synopsis]:
Possessing deep knowledge of mineralogy, Richard Ranashinha de Vulpian is a young and handsome British jewellery appraiser who owns a small shop in Japan. One fateful night, Seigi Nakata, a righteous college student, saves him from a couple of drunks who were harassing him due to his good looks. Upon learning of Richard's identity, Seigi hires him to appraise a pink sapphire ring that was left behind by his deceased grandmother.
Before long, Seigi becomes a trusted part-timer at Richard's shop. Together, the duo solve various jewel-related requests from diverse clients of different backgrounds. Step by step, they unravel the hidden motives and feelings that lie within the gems in order to understand and empathize with the little stories behind each piece of jewellery.

      Additional notes:
The manga is licensed by Seven Seas but the novels have not been picked up.
It has a pretty decent niche fanbase as well as an anime adaptation, and some merchandise.

      Reasons for:
The novels are vastly different and far more detailed than their anime counterpart. It's a very comforting, case-file type mystery novel with multiple small arcs. The writing is both elegant and well-fleshed out, and the characters are interesting and diverse. I really enjoyed reading the first novel (in Japanese), and thought it was a shame more people aren't able to enjoy it.

There seems to be very few titles on Jnovel that cater specifically to this sort of demographic or carry this type of genre, which is why I think it'd be a good pick up. It's also a very tame and casual novel that can be read by pretty much anyone.
