In Another World with My Smartphone Anime adaptation (Crunchyroll & Funi)
-
The dub is now up on Funimation. They play up God being a bit of a coot more than I remember. I'd say it's a decent dub.
-
I'd just like like to say that I've been waiting for episode 5 in the anime. Linze with glasses...
-
Is there any source that lists how many episodes it's going to be? I vaguely remember hearing that it was going to be 2-cour (26 episodes) and I chatted with someone about how interesting it is for a SoL series like this to get such a budget to be 2-cour despite how it is. But I can't find it anymore where I had that conversation, or what the source that announced it as 26 episodes was.
-
@aruseus493 You can check out some anime websites, they usually tell you how many episodes the anime will have and until when will it stop airing,
-
@phobes
Doesn't actually work most of the time for airing stuff. The default is typically 12 episodes if they list it at all. I'm looking for an actual source instead of a random database site's guess. -
@aruseus493 Usually, there's a link to source on anidb. In this case, 12th episode is listed as last on AT-X's schedule (which is not a best way to know for certain because things can get rescheduled sometimes). Few years ago 3 episodes per volume would mean two cours, but nowadays they pack in whatever way they want. It may be a split-cour and that's usually announced right after first cour's end so you'll have to wait until then.
-
@_08 The issue here is that I distinctly remember an announcement that it would be 2-cour so I'm hoping someone else that remembers this has the source.
-
@aruseus493 The hasn't been an announcement made yet, whatever you might have read are "fake news". There was a french site, however, claiming that it was a 2-cour/26 episodes anime but the news were groundless and without source so I discarded it as rumors. I'd trust AT-X's schedule though as the episodes count is similar to the officially announced home-media release, with 12 episodes both. I dare to guess that it might indeed be a 2-cour or split-cour anime as the announced home-media release is listed as 4 volumes/3 episodes each something highly unusual for a 1-cour series but pretty common for a split-cour.
I'd wait until something official is announced and reported on ANN, Crunchyroll or another trustable source. News might come a bit before the season ends, by the 12th episode airing or with the 1st Volume release.
-
@mmkop I don't think it was a fake news site as I know not to trust anything not from a valid source. It might have been a picture taken at a CR panel or something.
-
Funimation will be giving this a limited edition. Comes with an art book and Kohaku phone charm. Kinda surprised this got a limited edition over some other anime, but I guess it streamed better than I thought.
-
@lazyproblems for the next 2 hours, CrunchyRoll premium members can preorder the limited edition set for $42.49
Edit: It seems the sale will continue for the rest of the day April 17, PST. -
@lazyproblems I find that cover art jarring. Touya, Elze, Linze and Yae have the anime character designs but Yumina is LN artwork. Why do you keep singling out Yumina!!??
-
@legitpancake Does that include VRV premium members?
-
@paul-nebeling I think so? If you’ve linked vrv with your CrunchyRoll account; I believe a vrv premium account transfers over to CR premium.
-
@legitpancake I'll have to check that out when I get home from work. That price would be too good to pass up.
Follow up: Yup. Got the discount. Happy face.

Instead of derailing the V25 discussion thread...
@waterdweller said in Smartphone Vol. 25 Discussion!:
So, apparently, season 2 of the anime was just announced. I'm honestly quite surprised. My impression was that the first season didn't have much impact on the sales of the light novel, nor did the DVDs/Blu-rays sell well on their own. But then, I guess the market for anime has changed/grown since the first season was released, especially with income from streaming services having risen across the board, so it makes sense that they're having another go at it. The light novel is quite popular, after all.
ETA: Hype!
Sweet! Though they really only covered the first 3 volumes last time. Though if they cover another 3 volumes, they'll at least be able to at least introduce Hilde and Sakura within the story.
If they squeeze four volumes, then they could get as far as giving Hilde a proper introduction. I'll have to reread the early volumes to figure out where the various bits and pieces actually fell. Touya moves around way too much.
I guess they could also rejigger the timeline a bit...
-
I thought they did a good job with season 1. It remained faithful to the LNs and covered the right amount of material, instead of rushing through too much and making it a highlights reel like Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear.
If season 2 matches the quality of 1 I'll be a happy viewer.

@harmlessdave
I'm so glad that this series is finally getting a second season. This is very long over due! Can't wait to watch it. -
Yes, season 2 started and the hilarity is back. I can't wait for my favorite gynoid to appear. Bell Flora.
-
Was Rene in S1 or did they skip over the arc where Touya recruited her? It's been so many years now I've forgotten.
