Isekai Poll

that last one should be "I prefer Sci-Fi Isekai"
also I should have said this when I first created this poll but you should have up to 3 votes, sorry for those who have already voted and can not add any more.

So long as the story is enjoyable to me (it can even be bad if it knows it and owns it) I like it, isekai or not. Game, fantasy, sci-fi, individual or group, summoned or reincarnated are all fine.
A hell of a lot of what I'm reading is isekai due to it flooding the English market so I chose the "I like it" option. I suppose "indifferent" would technically be more accurate as I don't specifically look for isekai stories, but indifferent kind of feels like a negative connotation to me so I chose like instead.
Hope that makes sense?

@smashman42 I am the same way. Every Genre/tag can be done masterfully, horrendously and differently, Though I do have preferences when it comes to genres and tags. I do like Slice of Life series or series that have elements of that if they are not necessarily Slice of Life.

Multiple people Isekai is definitely something we could use (those "classrooms summoned to another world"). I guess Arifureta is that, but it wasn't my cup of tea (I'd prefer something with major male characters alongside our hero so it isn't just harem; maybe Arifureta adds them later?).
I think Reincarnation is my fav that we're getting, but some Sci Fi Isekai could be nice (I assume stuff like 'space battle mecha', 'grays', or even 'scientist summoned to another world'). There are a few "pharmacist summoned to another world" stories too.

@terrence you could try this for a sci-fi isekai of sorts. I'm not much of a fan of mecha, but I really liked this one, it kind of got overly complicated at the end but it kept me entertained.
And about isekai in general. I don't mind it. It's just a setting, it can be done well or horribly depending on the author.

@terrence Whole-class isekai tends to be fairly predictable: MC is gonna get betrayed or backstabbed. It happened in Arifureta, it happened in that one that's like Arifureta except the guy powers up by dying...
I thought one interesting series was the one where the MC's entire class gets summoned... EXCEPT for him, because he was sitting in the corner of the square classroom and the summoning circle didn't touch the corners of the room. He still gets all the ultra cheat skills, but is left behind on Earth. Unfortunately, the manga doesn't have many chapters yet and doesn't release often.

I like Isekai in general as it is pretty flexible and allows for a lot of different types of stories. I realize that most my favorite are all reincarnation (Paladin, 300 Years, Vending Machine, [New Life+], So I’m a Spider, Me A Genius) So I put that down, but I don’t think I particularly gravitate to that as a theme in and of itself - I try a volume of most every Isekai, those are just the ones I like best.

You can have a group of class friends transported though. Doesn't have to be enemies. Like these dudes.
"When the 12 students who went to college of technology, Kozo who goes to college of technology woke up, it was a different world. They were supposed to have worked all night in the garage aiming for victory in Robocope, what they went to first ... ... confirmation of the physical law!"
"When we go to a different world we first confirm the law of physics"
("俺たちは異世界に行ったらまず真っ先に物理法則を確認する")
It's a Kadokawa / Enterbrain work, so tough one to get localized I think.

But I suppose that isn't a whole class. I'll keep on the lookout! 👀
There's also that one where everybody else gets Isekai'd, but that one dude whom god still powered up gets left in his classroom. So we don't have to deal with the jerks, they're gone.
Edit: I just read the second half of your post, lol. That one, if it's the same one I'm thinking of, is also on Syosetu. Dunno if the LN got cancelled, is ongoing, or finished though. I recall it only had maybe two volumes?

Why there is no option for Isekai with good story???

What's a good story? What do you look for before you buy to choose a good story? Reviews?
-
@terrence Yes, review is help me a lot to decide whether to buy the LN or not, even though so far I decided to buy the LN after read from the Fan Translations. However, I know the meaning of good story may differ, but I think option for Isekai with good story is a must, you know, to not antagonize Isekai theme further :)

I think the "I am indifferent to Isekai" would work for this then.
-
I chose indifferent in that I'll glomp an isekai with good writing or story elements (So I'm a Spider, Log Horizon, .//Hack, No Game No Life, etc) but reject one that doesn't have good writing or treats female characters as nothing but foils to the guys (I'll respectfully refrain from naming names, but there are many) rather than as independent personalities with their own goals and aspirations. I came here looking for some good stories and, well, I'm struggling a bit. I'm going to keep at it, though! I'm open to suggestions! :-)
