User Library "Read / Hide" menu not showing when going to library from specific pages
-
I have run into weird (consistent) behavior where when going from specific pages to the user book library and trying to open the menu that has "Read / Hide" in it, that menu does not open up.
Cases i found where it shows up:
- when being on a Series Page (like
/series/private-tutor-to-the-duke-s-daughter
) and then going to the User Library (via the "User" button in the top navbar) and opening up a series in the library - when being on the Calendar (
/calendar
) and then going to the User Library (via the "User" button in the top navbar) and opening up a series in the library - when being on the series list page (
/series
) and then going to the User Library (via the "User" button in the top navbar) and opening up a series in the library
Cases where it does not show up:
- when going directly to the user library (or reloading while being on it)
- when going from home (
/
) to the user library - when going from a blog-post (like
/blog/opportune-october-options-ostensibly-ominous
) to the user library
From what i can tell from the pages where it happens is that those pages have some kind of button, while the ones where it does not happen do not have such kinds of buttons
Note: with "going to the user library" i always mean doing the same procedure of going through the "User" button in the top navbar and then open up a series (drop-down) and trying to access the "Read / Hide" Menu on a book at is already owned and released

I'm using Chrome in a Windows 10 environment with the exact same problem.
I've found that if I do a hard cache refresh while viewing the User Library it will then work properly, but I have to do it every time I shift to that page.It started happening after the "settings" stuff became reliable?
I'm not sure how soon after that, but it's the last couple of weeks, something like that; my time sense isn't any good these days, given being on disability retirement since 2005 I no longer have good referents for the passage of time. But it's a constant; it hasn't worked without a hard cache refresh since it started acting up.

at least for me a normal refresh (F5) works, no hard refresh (CTRL+F5) needed

i would say i had encountered this issue since the introduction of the "Read / Hide" menu, though i had not made a proper report guessing that something else was just temporarily acting up, but now i could consistently reproduce it and reported it

Thank you for reporting, we can reliably reproduce the issue, and are working on a fix.

Given the number of weird things over the years which turned out to be purely on my end of things when it came to browser issues, I'd been coasting on the thought that this was more of the same, so your posting concerning it was greatly appreciated.
It wasn't just me.@BastianInuk said in User Library "Read / Hide" menu not showing when going to library from specific pages:

While in some ways we could wish it wasn't at your end of things due to how many folks it could impact, it's nice to know you were able to reliably replicate it.
That majorly increases the probability of a fix that works. The effort all of you put in to make things work is very much appreciated.
