Unable to open Arifureta vol 13 epub in eReader Prestigo
-
Hello, bought vol 13 of Arifureta, downloaded epub and tried to open it in eReader Prestigo, which I've been using for ears to read epubs on my phone. But vol 13 never opens, it just hangs up on black screen. Anything wrong with the epub?

@Zing Our epubs are all made to the same assembly standards and pass epubcheck before being uploaded. It's more likely that your reader is unable to properly parse some esoteric piece of unexpected HTML. Without more information about a specific error or something it's really difficult to troubleshoot.

@Zing you could try opening it in a program like Calibre and reexporting it to epub again. It's possible that might fix whatever strange bug there is.
But like mys said, I'm not sure we can debug it if it's only breaking this one piece of software and you don't get any kind of error message. You might want to email the developers.

@admin @myskaros been using that program since it has text to speech functionality, so I can continue listening to my books while travelling to and from work etc.
I understand your reluctance, the program does not give any errors as far as I can tell. It just hangs up on black screen, the software is free so you can always try it for yourself.

Just remember to set the output to Tablet in Page setup/Output profile in Calibre when converting, that way it won't resize the images. Default choice gives you quite small images...
The newest versions of Calibre also have integrated text-to-speech, unfortunately there's no mobile app for it so it's pc only...

Actually, there's a possibility that the images themselves are the problem. I've had issues in the past with an ereader on my tablet where it basically cannot handle any epub over about 30mb in size. (I do love those premium hi-res color images though). I ended up converting the epubs to mobi and back again just so that it would convert the images to smaller versions (which are still higher quality than my tablet is capable of displaying)

Calibre can convert directly epub to epub, provided you choose the right output profile for the desired image sizes if you want them resized.
