Suggestion: sell "series bonus content" as a separate title
-
One issue I have with making bonus content accessible via its own purchasable epub is piracy. While piracy will never be eliminated, the premium membership is a decent barrier to at least the bonus content. I have noticed some premium epubs leaked but it's just a fraction of ones that have come from the 3rd party retailers. If you remove the premium membership barrier you will see all the bonus content sitting right next to their main stories on all the pirate sites.
Market share may be the largest player, and it's a bit naive, but I'd like to think that those who chose to become premium members wouldn't be illegally sharing.

@harmlessdave
Unfortunately for us this is the Light Novel market which is a Japanese media so if it's normal in Japan to pay $54 to get all bonus content then it would would be the same for anywhere else in the world since this market originated from Japan itself.Plus, I bet the Japanese publishers prefer to make customers spend another $54 than $10 since they still get a cut from anything JNC sells, so the higher the sale the higher the cut they get. You said it your self in your post that you want pay the author and the company, so now that company is the Japanese publishers and they want more money. This is business not charity.
FYI, I'm not being mean I'm just being realistic that the probability of your suggestion being implemented is close to ZERO.
Edit: In this world no one can guess what might happen so the possibility is not totally ZERO.

technically it is not 0% but near 0%

You're right. A miracle might happen or some kind of movement will occur in Japan that would cause a change in the system. -
I would actually be quite angry if they ever did this, I repurchased 4 volumes of realist hero, 3 volumes of smartphone, 2 Arifureta, and 1 How not to summon a demon lord.
Now I did this because I was told I would get access to exclusive stories only available to people who buy the premium edition directly from j novel club.
So if they suddenly turned around and said ok we are now going to release this exclusive content in 1 special volume at massively reduced price, I would feel like I was treated dishonestly.

I am sure welcome this, but yeah the exclusivity of the content will be compromised and the its value will going down.
also am not again buying multiple book if I love it, for example I am waiting Suigensou Premium bonus before I willing to upgrade my premium member, I already have all the Book (in Japanese which I hardly able to read). And I still buy epub from Kobo as its the only store I can buy it right now.
as background, I am here to read a daily/weekly update because of the fan-translator start to overcharge their translation. so the +$ for premium membership is not worth my wallet for now. but the moment there is bonus on the series I love was in I would so much ready to put my money on it.
@khaos sadly a lot of Premium EPub with its content is already leaked in this "piracy", while most of it was just in some kinda exclusive group but its already there just waiting to broke out. its DRM free after all and its easy to share.

That's all true, but with games the $60 game + $60 season pass is later sold as one $60 complete edition, which is eventually discounted down to $5. I paid full price for Fallout 3, NV, 4 and their DLC, but I'm not upset that later on there is a series of price drops.
With Western publishers' fiction, the hardcover might be $25, then 6-12 months later there is an $8 paperback. Later there might be multi-book collections that are discounted further. ebooks also have their prices reduced over time.
US anime prices sometimes (not always) follow the same pattern - from split seasons, to single collections, to discounted repriced single collections.
So feeling upset that the game, book, anime series, Hollywood movie has dropped over time seems odd to me, and so does wanting someone else who has waited (say) a year for access to the LN bonus content to pay the full original price for it.
I understand that might continue being the way it is for this particular market, in which case I'll probably just live with my disappointment and buy something else with the money.
One thing that might help address some of the issues people have raised here is a long wait: if the bonus material collection was not available until a year after the series started publication, that might stop it cannibalizing some sales of the individual premium editions.
With games, people know the price will drop in a year or less, but many people aren't willing to wait that long.

Honestly DRM has no value at all and is no barrier to illegal sharing - at least currently. You literally add one plugin to Calibre and load the book into it and it breaks any DRM. But yea there has been premiums leaked but...from what I've seen it isn't close to what would be out there if there were DRM based epubs with all the collected bonus content...though I'm not actively looking for it, so I suppose a lot more or even all could be out there. -

Even $15-20 would still be better than $36-60.

I think if they did sell it as a separate thing it would have to be a Vol 1 bonus vol 2 bonus etc where they are like 3-4 dollars each at most. Premium still gets better deal and ppl who have got a lot of normal books can get them at a cheaper price then getting each book here again.

That would still be much nicer than paying full price twice.

I don't know about anyone else, but i would be slightly annoyed if this did something like that considering i have re-bought almost 30 novels just to get the bonuses....
