Maou-sama no Machizukuri! ~Saikyou no Danjon wa Kindai Toshi~
-
Publisher: SB Creative (GA Bunko)
Status: 8 Volumes (Ongoing)
Manga Adaptation: Yes (Licensed By Seven Seas)
Synopsis: Beings that create and control monsters and demons, beings that build and reign over malicious labyrinths, the chosen individuals to possess an overwhelming Unique Skill… They are the Demon Lords.Demon Lords entice people to come to the labyrinth they’ve built and eat the people’s despair as their nourishment.
However, Creation Demon Lord Procell(Lolicell) has decided that he will obtain people’s hopes and not their despair as nourishment, and built a happy town instead of a malicious labyrinth to collect human beings.
This is the story of an eccentric Demon Lord, his inner thoughts, and his poker face.
My thoughts: I get a bit of "How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord" vibes here especially since the two main Heroines look like both Shera and Rem respectively and also the Protagonist being a Demon Lord and if it's anything like "How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord" then I'm all for it! -
To look at the covers and inserts:

The author also wrote that creepy Recovery Magic one that was #1 on Bookwalker's poll. This one looks lighter.
The artist is the same as the one for How Not To Summon.

I call this one Demon Lord Sim City. I've been following the webnovel and I quite like it. Wooser couldn't get into it though.
-
@terrence good to know. We can trust the author to do some fine work as well.
-
Manga is quite alright so far, interesting enough to get me hooked.
-
Manga just got licenced by Seven Seas!
-
I‘ve read the fan translation of the web novel version and so far, I think the story is quite good and fun to read. It would definitely be nice seeing this novel getting licensed. You have my upvote!

cover for vol.8 releasing June 14th!

Sounds interesting, I would definitely give it a try, if it will ever get licensed.

I've come to love and hate this series after binging on 8 volumes of web novel. I love it because the story is pretty fun and always progressing forward. I hate it because of wilful writing that causes plot holes. In addition author drops/stop developing certain plot elements because it is most convenient for the author.
For example the .50 cal golems that got introduced early in the story are replaced by spear wielding golems later on. No proper explanation was given as to why he would not use golems with .50 cal machine guns more, despite them being stupidly OP.
5 volumes into the story and MC finally confessed his feelings for the love interest and had his feeling returned. After that point, there has been 0 romantic interaction between protagonist and his love interest.
The 10 volumes of web novel seems to take place within 1 year of protagonists life. The ending of the web novel indicates that author is going to develop the story further in future works.
tl;dr
The web novel is nearly complete, has a pretty good translation to boot. Judging by the images from light novel, there isn't much difference between the two.
In conclusion, I doubt this will be licensed by j-novel. -
I quite liked the fan translation of the web novel and would love to read the licensed version.
-
I've caught up to the end of the 10th novel. Here's my rating followed by why it ISN'T a 10/10.
Rating - 6/10.
Now for the "Why?"Non Spoiler (TL/DR)
Though the story is fantastic in and of itself, there are major flaws to the character due to the writers unwillingness or inability to fully bring him to life, and there are story writing techniques that are blatantly overused and out of place.
Final score is 6/10.Spoilers from here on.

@scatty2010 Would you please hide the part about the romance and the secrets with the spoiler option?
I don‘t think anyone asked you for a rating of a novel, which hasn‘t been licensed so far and not everyone has read the original or fan translation of it.
Even if it is your honest opinion, with your statement you are able to kill the interest in the novel right from the start before any publisher even got the chance to license it. -
To be fair, unspoiled spoilers aside, it's good to know if the requested novels have what some would consider flaws before investing time and money into it. What scatty2010 described is pretty similar to my own thoughts I had while reading it (I'd give it 5/10, though, as there were more things I didn't like).
If those flaws are enough to kill interest in the book even before reading it, that begs a question - would it be worth licensing in the first place? -
@scatty2010 Thank you for hiding it.
@Wellwisher Well, but not everyone might see it the same as you, tastes can differ greatly. I for example would still like to read it.

On the one hand, I don't think the negative opinions of a handful of people should directly affect whether something should be licensed or not. Every LN has flaws, and people's tastes can differ on what they like or find important in a novel, and ultimately pretty much any novel will have its fans. Certainly, I wouldn't go so far as to say a novel is "not worth licensing" because of individual opinions.
That said, I think it's fine to have these negative opinions help people decide whether or not to upvote the request. The only thing is that you do kind of run a risk here in that, the more posts a thread has, the more people will pay attention to it and might upvote it, so a post attempting to discourage upvotes may actually have the opposite effect (and also, if you have to spoiler your complaints, some people might not even see those complaints).

Hello all,
Just to note, these licensing suggestion topics are a place to show your support, and at the same time can act as minor conversation topics.
So there is nothing against (or for) negative opinions on any of these suggestions.
That being said the actual discussion of, "should titles that viewed to not be "good", or just "decent" be licensed" is best left for it's own topic, and not this particular licensing suggestion topic. Beyond that, what is good, bad, and everything in between, is most likely too subjective to truly quantify.
Thank you
