How do you make spoiler tags work in the forums?
-
Edit:: In case anyone wants to know the conclusion without reading through a bunch of near identical comments: If you have quote marks anywhere in the text before the spoiler, the spoiler tag may not work. Sometimes it does still work, but there doesn't seem to be a way to make it work consistently.
So, if a spoiler tag doesn't work for you, replace the double quotes
"
with single quotes'

I've seen it work in some other comments, but when I try to put some works in spoiler tags like this
It shows the spoiler "eye" icon, but clicking on it doesn't show any text.

Hmm, nevermind, it worked in that comment. It didn't work in this one, though. Is it because the comment was longer? Do spoiler tags not work for comments with too many words?
Edit: That comment's spoiler tag now works as it was editted per the above comment.

Hmm, it worked there too. Maybe if I try to paste over my exact comment into this post, it'll work here?

I have mixed feelings about this series.
On the one hand, Callus is the most Mary Sue character I've read since Ash from Fushi no Kami. I don't just mean in how his actions seem perfect, but in how his mentality is always beyond reproach. Like, there are plenty of "perfect" OP characters I've read recently (Chise from Making Magic and Heale from Cave King come to mind), but they don't get on my nerves the same way Callus and Ash do.
I don't quite know how to describe it. Overwrought, maybe? It's scenes like in Fushi wherethat make me cringe a bit and want to say, "mate, that's a bit much".
On the other hand, I'm a sucker for the kind of eerie world intrigue that the missing moon sets up. The kinda story that gives you a vague sense that there's something deeply wrong with the world that you just can't put your finger on. With Callus's personality being so exaggeratedly good against the eerie world backdrop, it almost makes me wonder if it's a setup for his personality being fake or artificial in some way. I highly doubt the story's going that way, though. Well, I ended up liking Fushi no Kami quite a lot in spite its flaws, so I may end up liking this series too. I'm not sure if I wanna try another volume quite yet, so maybe I'll check back in on this forum in a few months and see if it's worth buying.

In my experience it breaks when you have things quoted in your message, with "quote marks". That or is just completely random. It does seem to break a lot though.
EDIT: yep that was it. It's the quote marks.

Looks like quote marks before the spoiler tags break it, but after them is fine.

In addition, what we've gathered is that you can only have one functioning spoiler tag per post; the first will work but any additional ones won't.
That could also be impacting your tests...

Yeah, the spoiler function is pretty broken in NodeBB (among other things). 🙄
If JNC wants help converting the forum to something else I'm always available. 😋
