Does J-Novel intend on licensing the spinoff of Ascendance of a Bookworm?

Morning and Mourning sound alike for good and sufficient reasons.

It's got to be licensed and published in Japan first.
Doesn't seem to be the case; it exists on Narou, but I'm not seeing any mention of it being in publication at this time.

All the discussion I've seen in the forums is that it's likely it will be licensed by TO Books following the completion of the main story, but since it takes place afterward they won't do so prior to completing the current story line.

          Hello,

As this topic has come up before I will do what was done then. The MC of the spin-off is a spoiler so I have removed mention of their name.

Also the answer to your question of “does J-Novel Club intend” is in my signature.

Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.

I don’t know if this post counts as a licensing suggestion given how barren the OP is compared to good suggestion posts.

Sam once said in a livestream that they would license everything the author writes for Bookworm. This sounds like a promise but it’s more of a general feeling so don’t feel betrayed if they don’t.

That said J-Novel Club do not license web novels so before we can even discuss this TO BOOKS would need to publish it as a light novel, which obviously can’t happen until next year at the earliest. I have no doubt that TO BOOKS will make it into a light novel though, given how Bookworm is basically their prize jewel light novel and they explicitly mentioned the spin-off in a full page newspaper advert at the start of the year (which I will not link since it contains the cover of every volume up to and including P5V10).

Also, please keep in mind that even when J-NC finish P5V12 (hopefully) next July/August that doesn’t mean they’re going to start the spin-off the next week. Licensing takes time and complications arise so don’t panic.

Well, then i really hope they license the Audio Drama's and somehow add those Extra Illustrations that are added in the Junior Bunko Edition of the Light Novel.

Not sure what would happen to the Official Comic Anthology though.

From the context of that response I’m confident they were referring only to light novel content.
The Drama CDs are a completely different beast due to the difficulty in selling them and obtaining the rights in the first place would be complex due to all the parties involved. I would be very surprised if they were licensed.
The Junior Novels… no chance. It would be a big pain for no benefit. You should just buy them yourself and insert them as required.
As for the Office Comic Anthologies, in the same breath Sam indicated they weren’t interested in them.

I think the better question would be “would Quof love to translate the spin-off?”… lol
