Any news about „Great Cleric“ Volume 11?
-
So I was wondering if anyone has some info regarding this series and Volume 11.
I don‘t see any mention of the next volume on the official site (which can be explained for my lack of Japanese language cababilities). Also no Amazon.Jep listing etc.
Is the original author too much involved with the upcoming anime?
Seeing as he had a fast pace with the LN itself (February 2021 the first volume and December 2022 the tenth) makes one really wonder what happened. Granted he had a draft with the WN on Shousetsu so it was not like he made everything from scratch. And with a good editor a fast pace is possible. And as I don‘t know in which Volume chapter 287 of the WN ends I can not say if he even did write further as the executive committee arc (named for convenience by me).

@LurkingMcLurk Oh right the dates were the english ones.
In Japan it was a Volume every 6-8 month.

@saskir Hugh spoiler at the end of your message. I'm still at vol 7, I was curious on knowing if a vol 11 was on the way...
-
@saskir japanese edition of Volume 11 was released in March 2023. We will need to wait for them to obtain rights, translators, and editors.
-
@Johnist no it didn't, that's a manga volume.
-
@GeorgeMTO Sigh and here I got my hopes up
-
@GeorgeMTO I did found a website selling Volume 11, Japanese, released in March 2023.
Here is the link if anyone want to check it out [https://jpbookstore.com/products/the-great-cleric-seija-musou-11]
If this is true, (I cincerely hope it is!) we just need to wait for J-novel to get the rights and start translating. Fingers crossed that they will do it soon. I really want to read more and finally see some romance added to it to be honest. With maybe less self reflection. I feel hungry for power displays (whether it's by outsmarting your opponent with words or skills).
-
@MeriaThePigeon That's the manga, unfortunately.
-
It's been over a year now since the last volume was released. Any updates on the next one?
-
@Zicco1 it's been over 2 years in Japan. No we haven't gotten any information that I'm aware of.
-
With the anime dropping in the summer 2023 season, I was hoping the LN would come back to life, but it hasn't. The anime covered LN 1 & 2.

Is it common for novels to just take a hiatus for 2-3 years in its country of origin? I am pretty new to reading light novels (about a year) so I am unaware of the norm.
-
@Zicco1 It's fairly common for series to get axed without any announcement, especially if it has less than 4 volumes. Series rarely came back after a multi-year break before Covid (excluding series that have an infrequent release schedule to begin with). But we are still seeing series come back from presumed cancellation- e.g. otherworld magic V10 came out today after over 4 years without a release (although some other stuff was going on there, I think).

George R. R. Martin has entered the chat.
Patrick Rothfuss has entered the chat.;x

I get that but those people are authors for novels and novellas, Why? My favourite author, Cristopher Paolini took up the pen after almost 10 years. But I didn't think it would be the same for light novels. (After all, it has light in it...)
Thanks for telling me

@Zicco1 Unfortunately, "light novel" is simply a marketing term; it has no strict definition separating it from other types of books other than "is published under a label specifically for 'light novels.'" There are light novels that are 500 or more pages, and there are light novels without anime covers or insert art. Yes, light novels tend to be "anime-like stories in prose form" but other than that there's nothing special about them.

Is that so? I was under the impression that light novels usually were 30-50K words. I know of an exception (quite a big one at that) where the book was almost 900 pages long. But aren't books usually divided into light novels, novels or novella?
