Ascendance if a bookworm- catch up with raws?
-
Hey just after a answer regarding the raws, a while ago I'd seen a forum comment/post that it's very unlikely we'd catch up to raws for a few years, and still wondering how far off we are and if this series has finished its japanese obligation as someone had said its finish with 5 vol 12.

I'm just going to copy an earlier comment of mine:
@LurkingMcLurk said in Wasn't the US translation of Bookworm supposed to catch up with Japan?:
On New Year's TO bought a whole page newspaper advert where they outlined their plans. I will not link it since it contains the cover of every volume up to and including P5V10 but to summarise what's important:
Spring
Part 5 Volume 11 (Book 32)
Drama CD9
Winter
Fanbook 8
Part 5 Volume 12 (Book 33)
Drama CD10
and...
Short Story Collection 3
Spin-off SequelAlso, currently voting is ongoing for the fourth character poll (which I will not link since it spoils the cover of Fanbook 8) and after voting it mentions that P5V12 is scheduled for December 2023.
Boring Calculations
Since then Part 5 Volume 12, the final book of the main story light novel, has had its official release date revealed to to
2023-12-09

Well, we know there are 5 more books remaining after the one that is currently almost done with pre-publication and the translation team has been making considerable effort to release each book in 8 parts with no breaks in between volumes. At that pace, there are 41 more parts to release (1 remaining in p5v7 + 5 volumes times 8 parts per volume), so at the current pace assuming no breaks and no increase in parts per volume the main series volumes should be fully translated in about 9 more months, with 10 weeks of wiggle room to still have it finished within the next year. Taking multiple years isn't likely to happen barring some catastrophic event.

Looks like we won't catch up with the Japanese publication schedule and face delays whole awaiting new volumes being published. prior to commencing licensing negotiations.
It also looks like we won't be that far behind in wrapping things up; we're close enough that they aren't very many volumes ahead, and the negotiations for those volumes can be completed such that the flow of translation has no expected delays. -
That won't stop it from feeling like a high-speed train suddenly triggered its emergency brake just as it arrived at the last station.

Um, yeah.
Given how the Sainted @Quof has valiantly endeavored to have no breaks, or unbelievably minimal ones, through the entirety of this series, it's gonna hit hard when it's done.
