Have catch-up months caused you to start buying any of the books?
-
I've only had a membership for a couple of months, but from the October catch-ups I plan to buy:
Unwanted Undead Adventurer volume 3 (released next Sunday)
This is a series I'd never have bought blind (reviews at Amazon are mixed, with good reason) and if I'd only been able to read part 1 of volume 1 I also would not have bought it.
Being able to continue on for free got me hooked, despite the major flaw of (to repeat myself from the members-only thread) the author being possessed by the spirit of Mojo Jojo:
There is so much repeated content in each volume that I don't feel like I'd get my money's worth buying all of them, but after skipping over the repetition it's good enough that I want to support them and JNC by buying volume 3.
(I'm looking forward to when the catch-up cycles back to Me A Genius? and Arifureta since the part 1s aren't enough to convince me to buy them.)
So, if you've been lured into buying ebooks for a series by the catch-up, what were they and how did it happen?

It's going to get me to buy Magic in this Other World us too Far Behind. I liked the initial setup (protagonist that doesn't care that much about the Isekai'd world state, he just wants to survive and go home).

I haven't actually bought them but through catchup months I've been faithfully following Arifureta, Outbreak Company, and Mixed Bathing (once it gets back in action), with plans to buy them all down the line.

Yes, I read Mixed bathing during catch up, reread all of them during catch up, and finally bought all 5 vols to reread. For the rest I only follow with prepub (with the exception of Realist Hero, I plan to buy it eventually).
And I still have mixed feeling about Neechuu, since I was only able to finish 4/7 vols during catch up, and I wonder if I should buy the last 3 only or buy all of them xD -
Yes, I ended up buying Infinite Dendrogram that way. I think I will probably buy Daimao that way as well.
-
I bought Rokujoima (Vol 1-15) in a stretch. Will do for upcoming volumes as well
-
I think I'll buy Mixed Bathing, but not until the next volume is out most likely. I've got a lot of other series I want to still buy, and I'm gonna prioritize those compared to a series which has been on hold for quite a while.
All the other series I bought, or plan to, are ones I had already wanted to get beforehand.

Uh, I'll check my library....
Actually, I think it's only Arifureta (and thanks to it Zero as well) and Clockwork Planet that I've binged in catch up months and liked so much I bought it. I thought it was more than that?
I know for Smartphone I started buying before I discovered this place & rebought volumes to get the premium stories.
I think I bought a volume of Realist Hero and Dendro each to try out after recommendation/reviews of them, then bought the rest of them cause I liked them, but maybe one of them was thanks to a catch up month?
Everything else in my library started after I was a member and either I wanted as soon as it was announced (Outbreak Company, An Archdemon's Dilemma, and Bakarina) or I got hooked by the V1 prepubs.
Mind you, I still haven't bought Grimgar or Rokujouma yet cause I keep running out of credits for some reason...

Makina: "Do you remember the attack on your life during the first half of summer vacation?"
Yuichi: "You'll have to be more specific..." -
Definitely Outbreak Company, since I thought the anime was fine but wasn't sure if it was worth buying the LN. However, reading the extra context and the reshuffling of the plot points (such as one of the Big Revelations in the anime being acknowledged in the first chapter) made it an instant-buy, and I've never regretted it. One of my favourite JNC series now.
Also Realist Hero, since I recall being extremely hesitant due to the title; "realist" has been used far too often as a synonym for "cynical", and when I had first followed the story early on, the story was building up towards a certain character facing execution due to her impulsive actions in the name of her honour, which would have been incredibly sad for several other characters. Not really the sort of story I wanted to follow. However, the catch-up month let me check ahead that the titular "realist hero" was not, in fact, particularly cynical or "hard man making hard decisions (while hard)", so my concerns were unfounded.

Can’t say any catch up has made me buy a book but I do use my free credit a month to purchase a book that I normally won’t read then if I like it I add it to my list like I did for seirei gensouki

Mixed Bathing was a lot more "wholesome harem" than I ever expected it to be, but really needs two volumes to hit its groove. Would have kept ignoring the series if it wasn't for a catch-up month, now I can't wait for the next one.
