This community is probably used to reading several books at a time due to the nature of streaming the parts of books as they are translated. I also suspect that a lot of Light Novel readers have a tendency to read Web Serials too.

What about "regular/mainstream" books? I read about ten books besides my JNC streaming and Web Serials.

I tend to rotate from book to book and concentrating on one or two series more heavily than the others.

As I get older I find it harder to keep reading one book/series at a time. Not sure if I just get bored but more often because the story is headed in a direction that I do not want it to go (I think tragedy hurts a bit more to read as I get older so I tend to stop go to another book and then return a little later in the week).

Curious if anyone else also does something similar.

For example I am currently reading (or re-reading) the following:

      Comic Strip Collections (Re-reads)
      Calvin & Hobbes Complete Vol1
      Pogo Complete Vol 1
(Comic Strips tend to be good palate cleansers between heavy books)

      Web Serials
      Wandering Inn Arc 1
      The Bee Dungeon
Ghost in the City: Cyberpunk Gamer SI
The Butcher of Gadabhra (this is terrific give it a try)

      Mainstream
      Waybound (Cradle Series)
      The Will of the Many
      Wrath
The Man Who Died Twice (Thursday Murder Mystery Series)

      Kindle Unlimited
      Kraken Rider Z
Of Blood and Fire (Bound and the Broken series very good)

      Audible
      Guardian (Warcore Vol 4)

Usually just one book plus a bunch of JNC prepubs.

Once in a while I'll start reading one book and put it on hold, either because it doesn't fit my mood or because something I want to read much more just came out. I'll then switch to reading one other book and come back to the first one later.

Same here. I tend to read a lot of books, switching between them as I go, but I've never really tried to keep a count.

              Uh. A lot.

I've currently got 19 active a week on JNC prepub reading. there are a few i put on hold and will pick up and binge the ebooks of again in the future.

I've got 30 fantranslated stuff on active read as they're released with chapter releases between once a week up to 4 times a week. With an obscene number of half finished stories where the translations stopped or i put on hold because the releases were too slow, like 100+

3 patreon subs for authors releasing chapters 1-2 times a week.

10 stories on amateur/semi-pro fiction writing sites that i read with releases 1-4 times a week with another bunch of stories i'll read some of when im in the mood but arent actively reading.

There are a bunch of series from Yen Press, Seven Seas, Cross Infinite World that i read whenever they release a new volume.

Then there's an occasional story i find that already has multiple volumes released I get hooked on and binge the lot of which puts all of the above on hold as catching up takes up all my reading time.

I tend to read one book at a time not counting serial novels and manga or webtoons that I read as chapters. However, lately, I've found that I can switch between books as long as the medium is different. Like if I started a book on my Kindle but then put it aside to read a whole pre-pub on JNC. Or start a physical book and put it aside to read some new physical manga that I just received.

Outside of JNC prepubs once I read only a book at a time. I can switch to different media like watching an anime or playing a game but other books have to wait until I finish reading the previous one.

Outside of Prepubs, I prefer to only read one book at a time. That being said, if there's no time constraints stopping me, I will binge through an entire novel in less than a day and pick up the next volume.

Outside of JNC prepubs, I tend to read books cover-to-cover in one sitting.

Holding a book takes one hand, and I need the other hand free to turn the pages, so I'm not dexterous enough to read more than one book at a time.

I usually have 3 books going at once.
1 physical that I read at home.
1 digital that I read on the train/at lunch/whenever I'm out of the house
1 audiobook for when I'm driving around or need something to listen to while working.
Generally the audiobook isn't a light novel though.

Depends on whether or not I am playing video games. If I am not, then 3 to four light novels I think. Not sure how you would count them as I tend to binge read a series of all available books in a short period of time. About 5 hours per book and binge through them if the story is good, so 9 books in about 5 days? But if you count waiting period as well, then 14 series would be my current number. If I'm caught up, and have to wait until a full release is available, then that takes time for me to get. Plus I binge fan translations manga, manhwa, etc. and have 21 of those that I recently ran through as well. I have been taking a break from playing Zelda, Tears of the Kingdom, so my reading has increased. Do you count technical manuals? Because I sometimes read those as well, when I can't find a good light novel series to read.

I think any book should count but I usually only track fiction for myself. I read and write a lot of technical documents for work but do not track those as an example.

Do you think that's because it's for work? I'm retired, so the tech manuals that I read is more for personal consumption / enjoyment than for quota requirements. Maybe that's the difference?

I think mainly because I don’t want to track anything from work or even non-fiction(it’s hard enough to track my fiction)! ; )
