Lord Marksman and the Vanadis (Madan no Ou to Senki)
Publisher: MF Bunko J/Media Factory
Novel: Complete at 18 volumes
Manga: Licensed by Seven Seas
Anime: Licensed by FunimationSynopsis:
In times of war, set in Western Europe, Eleonora Viltaria, one of the seven Vanadis of Zhcted, leads the war into Brune. There are actually seven Vanadis, named like this because they each received a powerful weapon from the dragon, to reign over seven territories, each possessing their own. The power of the Vanadis causes dread and fear toward their enemies. An Earl in the service of the country of Brune, a young archer called Tigre, got a taste of it after he was defeated on the battlefield by Ellen (Eleonora). However, Ellen decided to spare his life after seeing his skills. In exchange, he is asked to serve her.Why I Want It:
I want this series to be licensed because I need more military/war/strategy/political light novels to read. I love Legend of the Galactic Heroes, The Saga of Tanya the Evil and the Master of Ragnarok novels, but I would love to have more. This series has badass female protagonists too, which is always a plus. I also like how they want the main character for his skill with the bow, and not for romantic reasons (at least at first). The anime's ending was okay, but I would love to read the rest of the story. -
I enjoyed the anime. Had no idea it was a LN. Thanks for the info.
-
Yeah, it's a great series, but sadly unlikely due to Kadokawa. I dream of JNC getting a foot in the door there. ;)
The fan translator's disappeared for a while, so in spite of the series being ended, we're unlikely to see it. ;(

Yeah, really want to read this. If JNC doesn’t get a Kadowaka I at least hope Yen ends with a digital only LN sub-label (I know Bookwalker but they are going really slow).
-
This would be so great!! I really loved that series and would like to read the end of it sometime.
-
I support. I miss this series. Fan-translations have long since died. War series are pretty cool.
-
This one is always on my wish list.
-
With Kadokawa titles being on the table now, I'm a bit more hopeful of this getting licensed.
-
The anime was great. I'm sure the LN is as well.
-
@lighthawk96 The anime was mediocre. The LN are really good. Only thing I liked about the anime was the way they found on how to describe the battles.
-
@saskir I didn't like the anime either, I was really annoyed when it cut out all my favorite parts of volume 1.
-
Would really like to see this one picked up. The light novels are so much better than the anime, and manga just doesn't do this type of story justice.
I'd give 18 premium credits up front if JNC gets the license. -
Would certainly have my vote (if I could find the vote button).
The series is complete at 18 volumes, though they have recently released a spin off with Mila as the main heroine as a "what if" kind of scenario.
I loved the anime, though I wished there were more series to complete it. I have always loved a low fantasy in a medieval world kind of background. -
Wish this would get licensed since it's a completed series.

@aruseus493
So do I. I've asked for it on Seven Seas' survey multiple times too. We have the anime, we have the manga but not the light novel. Why? I guess the length of the series is against it and maybe the age of the anime now? Because it's not an isekai? It has the obligatory harem and beautiful girls on the covers that would help sell it too. -

Huge fan of this series I'd love to read it from you, and buy it.

Anime was awesome. I wanted to read the light novel but none of english publishers worked with it. J Novel Club, please consider to publish it, please. There is many who would be happy to read it and buy it if was available. I am participating in many fan groups of Vanadis and many people wants to read it.

Would be a bit greedy, but if whoever gets it, also gets the newest spin off......might as well give a blank cheque for 30ish books
-
I'd preorder the whole series and the spin-off without even blinking.
