what's the plan for seventh after the 10 volume?
-
My understanding is the 10th volume is the last light novel. Will the web novel be translated then to keep the story going or will the 10th be the end of it?
-
That will be the end of it. My understanding is that licensing the web novel in situations like this could cause conflicts with the original publishers, so they avoid it.

There's no point continuing off with the WN because the events of the WN is different than the LN
Also some characters doesn't exist in the WN, like Sophia.
Just gotta wait for the author to continue the series, if they ever do.

I don't think any English LN publisher has ever licensed and translated a webnovel after completing the available LNs for a story, and it's not like there is a dearth of examples where they could have done that to continue the localization.
There are usually at least some minor plot differences between LN and WN, or the WN may be a lot more bare bones and the LN publishers had to help flesh it out. In general, I think the localization team would probably have to restart from the very beginning of the WN and go through all the previous released content again to account for those continuity differences (for example, new characters). That would make a lot more work for them, and the end result probably wouldn't sell very well considering anyone interested would have already bought the translated LNs.
Fan translators can and do translate both WN and LN (sometimes the same group will do both), but they aren't doing it for a living. I don't see any case where J-Novel, Seven Seas, Yen Press, or anyone else would license the WN to continue after the end of the LN. It doesn't make sense in continuity for the readers and it doesn't make sense financially for the readers.
Maaaaybe it would happen if the series for some reason reaches SAO levels of popularity in the west despite being cancelled in Japan, but I wouldn't count on that being the case for this one.

I was hoping that the success of Mobuseka could spark some interest in the author's other works and lead to Seventh resuming publication, but so far I've seen more Mobuseka spinoffs instead. Maybe in the future..

With the recent Seventh manga adaptation announcement/launch, we were hoping that maybe this means the author will be resuming the LN, but we'll just have to wait and see :<

@QuixoticHorizon Fortunately some random fan translator has translated the webnovel to its conclusion. It's not nearly the quality of the official translation, but it's readable, at least.
For Seventh, the author has stated that he purposely rewrote the light novel to keep it fresh for web novel readers so they could enjoy it too. Every volume has the same beginning and end, but characters will take different routes to get there.

@myskaros Every time that happens it feels like a coin flip between either the LN being continued or the story living on only in the manga. And maybe not even a coin flip.
I know at the high end in the Oricon rankings manga volumes get literally an order of magnitude or more sales than light novels, but not how that shakes out in the long tail, or with streaming, nor whether it's meaningful to compare with anime DVD/BD sales anymore either.
But I can understand why stories might switch to manga (and WN) only.

Did Reborn as a Vending Machine get picked back up in Japan? Considering the cost, it is so bizarre that a series gets not just one, but TWO anime adaptations six years after the LN was cancelled after 3 volumes. If that doesn't lead to a series being resumed by the publisher, I honestly don't know what it would take.

@QuixoticHorizon not only did it not get a v4, they reprinted the 3 volumes with a new illustrator.
