You Can't Lie to a Saint [LN]
-
Japanese Title: Seijo ni Uso wa Tsuujinai
Author: Natsu Hyuuga (author of The Apothecary Diaries)
Illustrator: Chiho Shinishi
Publisher: Arian Rose/Frontier Works
Summary from anilist:
Chloe works as an apprentice priestess at a remote church, but she uses her insight and memory to earn money at night by gambling at cards in a bar, which is hardly suitable for a clergyman. One day, Erald, a wealthy paladin, visits Chloe's church, so impressed by her abilities that he offers her a job."I want you to pretend to be a candidate for the saintess, and infiltrate the grand cathedral to find the murderer who committed the crime two years ago."
Drawn by the large reward, Chloe signs a contract with Erald. She is supposed to investigate the murder of an apothecary that took place inside the main church two years ago, but what is the truth hidden behind the scenes?
There seems to be a manga adaptation currently being made that I've been able to read a few chapters of a fantranslation of, but I'd be interested in checking out the original novel as well.

By the author of The Apothecary Diaries?! I would absolutely buy it.
-
@eggnog ohh that is a very good reason to give this a look.
-
@eggnog Premise sounds reasonably interesting, and if it’s by the apothecary diaries author it’s probably well-written. Has my vote.
-
Another good mystery novel in my library would be nice and if it‘s by the same author as ”The Apothecary Diaries“…

I love mystery novels, so upvote!

I don’t know about how there only “seems to” be a manga if you’ve read multiple chapters of it, but there’s three volumes out from Kodansha (it’s in Monthly Shounen Magazine, chapter 17 was serialised yesterday).
The LN has only one volume out, in 2022, but as it’s not numbered I assume it’s a oneshot.
