Hello. What can you recommend similar to “Apothecary diaries“?
15 book will finish in August and I’m thinking what to read. 16 book I even don’t know when will be, at least approximately.

@nadin-cosmos if you like the court intrigue + mystery aspect of AD you could try Raven of the Inner Palace

Though I am an inept villainess has court intrigue + strong willed female protagonist

As for story with a protagonist like Maomao; a sarcastic dry young woman with special talent, you could try the Troubles of Miss Nicola the Exorcist

these stories have fantasy elements so your mileage may vary if you’re looking for AD’s realistic historical world building.

“There’s always a story. It’s all stories, really. The sun coming up every day is a story. Everything’s got a story in it. Change the story, change the world.” ― Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky

To add to the above list:

Culinary Chronicles of the Court Flower which is in a very similar setting to Apothecary Diaries (rear palace of a country similar to old China) but the main character is actually one of the consorts instead of just a rear palace servant. Except she likes to cook and would rather be a servant. And there's romance.

If you like the episodic mysteries, you might like Holmes of Kyoto. It is set in 21st century Kyoto.

Agreed. I read all 7 volumes of the LN after seeing the anime in 2023, and it's my favorite classical Chinese novel behind The Apothecary Diaries.

The Tiny Witch from the Deep Woods also felt like the Apothecary Diaries to me, at least the first volume. Second volume is currently being translated, not that I have started it yet. Maybe the Wandering Witch, though I have only watched the anime.
