Arifureta Volume 9 English Release?
-
I was wondering with Volume 9 being released on Dec 25, 2018 in Japan, if there was any ETA on when translation would start or around when we might expect a release.
-
There is no ETA yet, just speculations. You can read more in V8's topic: https://forums.j-novel.club/post/38371

@15cyndaquil here is the official word
Soon™

Did they wait a real long time to start the light novel, after the WN was started? Cuz the WN has a TON of afterstory content piled up.
-
@galactuskahn24 According to Wikipedia, the Arifureta WN started in November 2013, and the first Japanese light novel was published in June 2015. The light novel has only been releasing 2 to 3 volumes per year in Japan, and I speculate it takes so long because of the illustrator (that is often the biggest limiting factor when it comes to WN --> LN publication).

@legitpancake it probably has more to do with the fact that the author is still writing the after story in Narou, so he's not dedicating his entire time to checking the original WN and adding stuff, which translates into slow releases. Also, the Arifureta Zero releases are eating into the main story releases, this year we only had 2 main volumes and 1 zero volume. The author usually takes a 1-month break from the WN in order to tackle his deadline with full force for the LN.
-
it was released in Japan at Christmas. So it would take time for it to be translated into English. I hate waiting for it too but I have to wait for it. Just reread the past volumes and have some patience.

and have some patience.I dont have patience, this is why am throwing money at j-novel club like a crazy person. I repeat, I DO NOT HAVE ANY PATIENCE, in any form, ever.
-
@zing but it isn't making that much of a difference right? It isn't being translated faster and it isn't becoming more important to the translators. So you just have to wait a little bit.
-
As much as I'd love to start Arifureta volume 9, my subscription is getting me a ton of other series, so it's not hard to wait when I can read potion loli, vaito, lolifeet, demon load, realist hero, japan elf, seigensou, smartphone, undead, dendro, etc.
Potion loli is my favourite at the moment.

Does the main series have the same translation/editing team as Zero? They might be starting it now they've finished that, though that was a while ago. What else does the team work on?

Yes, the translator/editor team is the same. You can check it out by looking at the series pages:
- https://j-novel.club/s/arifureta-zero/
Translator: Ningen
Editor: DxSThe editor works on other series too (Elf Bride and Smartphone at least). The translator works on Werwolf (Jinrou). Not sure if they are also involved with other series, those are the ones I recall right now.
That aside, I believe the issue was that Overlap has not returned the signed contract or provided the materials? (I'm not sure on this though...)
-
@terabyte Well I hope they can get that squared away.
-
Since this title is on catchup, I decided to give it a shot and now I’m dying to read Volume 9. I’ve already read what’s available for Zero.
So... what’s causing the delay at this point? Legal bs?
-
It's probably the same problem as Grimgar vol14 for which the translator said that they had allready translated first part and where just waiting for the contract thing to be done.
Since it's probably the same for Arifureta vol9 part1 should also be add soon.

@raitoiro but if you think about it if you want them to focus on one thing then they push everything else to the side. it is like choosing one of the novels and the others don't progress.
-
Sam revealed over the weekend that the translation team only just got materials for Arifureta 9 last Thursday, so first part should launch this week (and it will be 12 parts long, so probably early June for ebook BibleThump).
-
@jjch102296 Sorry it don't really see the link between what you said and my comment.
Arifureta and Grimgar have different translator so putting one aside wouldn't really have help.Anyway it seem like i was in the wrong from what @LegitPancake said, the 2 were in different situation and they just got the material for Arifureta while they allready had it for Grimgar so the problem wasn't the same.
-
@legitpancake so will it show the update dates for the 9th volume this week or will it show later next month?
