open air baths

Would someone explain to me why open air baths are supposed to be such an upgrade? I'm reading this novel where the guy creates a luxurious 30 story palace and on the top floor they add an open air bath. It seems like every light novel shows luxury by adding an Open air bath. Please someone explain this cultural phenomenon to me. It seems to mean that a bath would be even more luxurious if you made it just as big but didn't have to worry about freezing your bits and pieces off or having someone peep on you.

Yes, it's a common trope in so many isekai stories.
I think the appeal is the view of nature or a garden around you and being able to look up at the stars at night.
For a natural hot spring it might also be more of a practical thing because without fans an enclosed hot spring could get stuffy from the humidity and sulphur-laden air.
