I got into some of the past contest winners, but I noticed they haven’t been updated in a while. Were those intended to be standalone novels, or is it just taking a bit for the authors to continue them?

@Luigi2262 they were only guaranteed a single volume, yes. JNC hasn't made any official statement about publishing additional volumes for them, but some of the authors have mentioned that they're wanting to continue.

Editing a new story (as opposed to just translating an existing one) is a different experience for JNC as a company though, so I'm unsure how long things would take.

@GeorgeMTO Thanks for the response. The stories were good, and I think I was foolishly expecting the timeline for them catching up to an existing series. Well, here’s hoping the ones I have in mind (the Adorable Dungeon Master and The Young Lady is the Substitute Harvest Goddess in particular) will continue…

@Luigi2262 I would imagine part of the problem come from some issues other people have raised if you look through some of the posts about the contests and the volume 1s, it's not necessarily fair to other winners if some people start getting volume 2s announced before their volume 1s come out.

About all we can do is buy the vol 1s of series we like and hope that the sales result in JNC continuing the series' at some point down the line.
