Medaka Box

Author: NisiOisiN
Artiste: Akatsuki Akira
Publisher: Shueisha
Number of volumes: 22 (completed)
Other: there's also 2 short spin-off light novel series
MALPlot (from MAL, but only the first paragraph since it only really describes the first Volume anyway)
Kurokami Medaka, a first year, is elected as Student Council President, and the first thing she does is establish a suggestion box, later dubbed by students the "Medaka Box." Medaka encourages students to submit any problem to the box without hesitation and promises to take on any issue from anyone. To describe the series as a whole it's an over the top shounen manga which goes full meta, playing with the tropes kinda like Gintama but more serious, with for example (little spoiler)
Why I want it:
For 2 main reasons, first, the meta aspect is really interesting with some fights or characters which can appear strange at first glance but make sense when you look at what each character is supposed to represent, it also makes for some good comedy.
Second, and probably the most important: the characters. And while the "good guys" are interesting and overall good characters, the antagonists are fantastique and if you've heard of the story before it was likely about Kumagawa by far the most popular characters and a great villain. A walking paradox, both totally negative in his view of the world and overly optimistic about everything he does. Also, there's some good old ecchi, and it's well integrated.
Why it would be a good pick for JNC:
The authors' name could help sell, it not as popular as it used to be but it still has a fairly large active fan base, an anime adaptation but it's only covering 4 volumes which are considered as the least interesting part of the series, and most importantly: it's a great series. So now upvote, so that we can be blessed with that great series

I have the anime dvd's of this series, but I still hope that one day we'll be able to read this in english. I know its been licensed in other languages so maybe Jnovel could take a chance with this one. I'd definately support them if they got this.

@artistofmanga I hope they don't take too much inspiration from other language version tho, i have the french version and let just say that the fantrad is of better quality --'

@raitoiro Was a lot of it mistranslated or localised? The author likes his wordplay gags and referances so I'm curious how they would translate stuff like that in a series like Medaka box.
-
@artistofmanga Well yes, there was a number of strange translation choice but overall that part is okay.
The real problem is more in the details, the best exemple i think is how at some point there a character, who, when they use their powers, in the background the name of all the skill they're using is displayed. But the french version doesn't translate everything instead they use a slightly bigger font and use the characters to cover a lot of the text.
It's not that important but it happen with a number of other things and it's kinda infuriating.
It's not terrible but i found the english fantranslation to be of better quality overall.
