Adult Light Novels?

let's define some terms pls
Do you mean 'adult' as in 'not YA' (young adult/ teenager target demographic) i.e. what might be found in the 'General fiction or SciFi /Fantasy sections of my local Barnes and Noble? Novels aimed at a mature / adult audience? (some Seinen would be YA/ male in USA, some 'mainstream' i.e. aimed t 20-50 yr olds) ?
or by 'adult' do you mean erotica? i.e. Hentai? (Tagged "18+" in Japan)
(Just judging by what's been published so far) I believe that JNC is trying to stay on the side of reaching the most market possible on Amazon/elsewhere using the categories that Amazon/Kobo/BN use (Maybe trying to avoid being tagged as a purveyor of porn?) There's plenty of content that's a little bit naughty but I'm not sure even JK Haru would get a "18+ only" tag in Japan

@jon-mitchell
I guess I was not clear enough, my bad. I was talking about erotica.I'll edit my initial post as well then, so it will be more clear.

Adult as in R-18? There are R-18 light novel publishers such as the ones Bishoujo Bunko publishes. I've read a few... Not sure why anyone would read them instead of eroge honestly.
As for JK-Haru, if we're being technical, it isn't a light novel at all. It is a sci-fi book and isn't really erotica either.

Most of porn light novels I've read were really bad. Like a nukige script with scarse illustrations and without voice acting. The worst part: lewd parts are mostly identical between different novels. Not to mention a lack of realism...

I'd like to see JNC publish more 'Novels' in addition to 'Light Novels' (i.e. what might be found in the 'General fiction or SciFi /Fantasy sections of my local Barnes and Noble)
I'm not particularly interested in erotica/porn
is there a down vote button for a topic?

"Crest of the Stars", "Side-By-Side Dreamers", "JK Haru" and "Last and First Idol" are all published as general-literature/sci-fi in Japan. Now, I don't live in US so I don't know what kind of books Barnes and Noble puts on their general fiction shelves but you'd see them in the sci-fi section in Japanese bookstores.
They're published by Hayakawa's ハヤカワ文庫JA (Hayakawa Bunko Japanese Author) imprint where basically sci-fi by Japanese authors is published. While Hayakawa's other books, translations of Western sci-fi and mystery gets published in other imprints. I haven't really taken a close look at their collection but I've seen stuff like Ellery Queen's books published by one of their imprints.
The Japanese classifications and Western classifications are hard to compare.

@wellwisher Yeah, to be honest, a good chunk of porn light novels are just crappy nukige without illustrations and voice acting.
-
@jon-mitchell I've never seen a downvote button, but I believe the functionality is there.

No, Sam said long ago that people can vote yes with an upvote, but if they are against something they should use their words instead of just downvoting and saying nothing.

I have no interest in JNC publishing LNs where being erotic is the main theme. I'd rather watch my porn.
I do enjoy the rare LN that includes older characters like Realist Hero, Death March, and 300 Years Killing Slimes.
I also don't mind LNs that include "adult situations" in the context of an actual story, like Realist Hero, or occasional "unpleasant adult situations" like in Lazy Dungeon Master.

Pure R-18 are usually meh, just pure pornography in written form, with a few exceptions here and there.
For example Maou no Hajimekata has a half decent story, manga is licensed by Seven Seas.
Himekishi ga Classmate manga is half decent, I guess?
Parallel Paradise probably have a plot, if you look deeply between the lines.R-15 usually involves soft description of sexual scenes while focusing on the plot. Examples of such stories would be:
Isekai Meikyuu
Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi
Kujibiki Tokushou
Seichou Cheat de Nandemo Dekiru you ni Natta ga
Gun-ota ga Mahou Sekai ni Tensei Shitara
The Dungeon Seeker (at least the web novel)In most cases, my personal preference would be of R-15 variety.

If you want a good erotic light novel try "inside the cave of obscenity" which is a surprisingly good book, the sex scenes are bad tho.
The rest, however, is quite good as a fantasy novel with good characters, interesting world building, and it's good at keeping the tension high, just the MC is too op.
But if you ignore the sex parts it's better than a number of regular fantasy LN licenced in english. -
There is an R-18 tag on novelupdates, and even some other more detailed tags, you can look for some porn novels there.
And don't forget to recommend if you find smt good. -
I wonder where this fits?

On the list of things where I need to remind myself not to criticize anyone else for what they like.
To those who do: Your fun is not wrong, even if it isn't my fun.

Oh, I wasn’t endorsing nor criticizing the title in the link ( I haven’t even seen the source material) just noting that from how it is described, it is “adult” ( I’m guessing ecchi not hentai)

I didn't think you were, but It's such a specific fetish that I had to remind myself not to :)

I’m against what can be considered hard core. Avoiding incest (up to cousin of first degree) and underage are a must. Of course the act has to be consensual. Following these guidelines it would be nice if J-Club could publish more adult novels.
