Catchup Titles Archive (Updated to March 2024)

@yumenokage I believe Sam makes the final choice, not sure if he asks anyone else for suggestions.
Also he was the one who toggled them on and off, but maybe the individual they recently hired will now be handling that...?

June 2019 catchups:
- Elf Bride
- Der Werwolf
- Cooking with Wild Game
- Paying to Win in a VRMMO
-
Is Paying to win good? The premise seems fun but I read not so positive opinions.
-
I got left behind on "Elf Bride" and "Der Werwolf" a long while back, so perfect time to catch up, I guess. I've also been mildly curious about "Paying to Win in a VRMMO", so might check that out…?
-
So no Mixed Bathing this time around either 😩
Other than that, first post updated.

It had its moments. I liked volume 1 a lot. Beyond volume 2, I think it got worse as it went on though.
The setting of the world in the game isn't really ever a draw either (it's not really adventurous; it's more about the characters, and it shows both their in game lives and out of game lives + connections).
-
@terrence thanks, I guess I'll keep it last and read it if I have time left before the next catch up.
-
@lex I have the opposite view as Terrance in that I feel it gets better once you readjust your view. The volumes after the first are basically character focused SoL and when taken as that I thought it was well written and quite charming. Strangely I just started volume 5 last week so my opinion could change in these last few volumes.
As always your mileage may vary.

@the-green-death thanks for your opinion too. Another question, from the tags and description I think I should not expect any romance, right?
-
@lex No romance at all (though there are interested parties, it’s not reciprocated at this stage). More just watching fun characters interact with a overbearingly talented and self assured rich guy
-
Don't go in hoping for romance and you probably won't be disappointed. The character relationship building is good outside of that, yeah. =)

Nice, I've been wanting to try Elf Bride.
For anyone who hasn't read Der Werewolf, it's good, fun and surprisingly funny now and then from situational humor rather than slapstick or jokes.
-
Another month, another I've already read them all or own them.
Really hoping for that Apocalypse one to come on catch up, as it is the only still active thing JNC has that I haven't read.
-
@lex There's also some quirky humor in the form of pop culture references. I liked it, overall.
-
Well it’s July now. Wonder what this month’s ones will be.

@sinnoaria Sam said last night he was going to try and see if he could get to it after the website update that night, so it is on his mind.
While I'm normally in the impatient group I wouldn't mind if it took a little longer this time since I still have a bit of stuff I might read from this month in addition to all my physical backlog. I've got all the stuff I really wanted to read that was already expired finished, though, so if it does change soon I won't count it a huge loss either.
License Wishlist: Kino's Journey, Crest/Banner anthology, SukaMoka
Favorite JNC Series: Bookworm, Faraway Paladin, Dendro, Grimgar, Crest/Banner of the Stars, Tearmoon Empire, Skull Dragon's Precious Daughter, Apothecary Diaries, Otome Heroine's Fight -
Let's see if he'll put Mixed Bathing on catchup this time around... 🙄
