So I’ve never read a romance comedy before and have to admit this one was a pretty fun read. I’m a casual gamer so a romcom genre never actually got my attention, but when I read the description I said why not give it shot. It was a good decision I guess cuz this LN made me chuckle so many times. It had a nice mix of gaming language that made it very fun to read. Love the character progression as well which made it even better. So for those of y’all that read it let me know what you personally enjoyed. For those of y’all that didn’t, give it a chance I’m sure you won’t regret it.

Funny story, I was the one that posted Tomozaki on the license suggestions here in JNC. Sure, because it was snagged by Yen Press we gotta wait 4 months between volumes, but it's good to know it even got licensed in the first place.
My first exposure to the series was through the manga, and I fell in love immediately (hence asking for JNC to pick it up). For some reason, I just had the gut feeling that the source material would probably be even better.
Props to my boy Tomozaki, because he thinks and acts like a proper human being. As his mentor, Hinami says, he's able to take in information given to him by the other party, and react accordingly using his own personal perspective and thought processes. It's actually really refreshing.
The girls too, they feel like actual characters. With Hinami, you get glimpses of the work she put in to reach her god-tier normie status and how she's a competent mentor to Tomozaki. As for the girl in the major conflict of volume 1,
Long story short, I'm completely satisfied with this first volume even though I had to jump through a couple of hoops because of region locking of the digital version. No doubt, I'll eagerly await each new volume.

As for the region lock, that sucks man. I live in the US so I never had many problems if not no problems at all acquiring most things. -
Yeah, this was a really good read. Might have to actually try out some of Aoi's life hacks...
Now I'm curious if the most recent volumes in Japan feature an "ultimate" sequel to AtaFami... (if you know please don't spoil)

Yen Press needs to up its game tbh. We all know JNC works fast with a new volume every 2-3 months, but Seven Seas has been on a tear recently. Mushoku Tensei and Reincarnated as a Sword feel like such recent pick ups but they're both releasing volume 3s this August.

Saw this discussion, started to read the volume, and finished it in a couple of sessions, so yeah, it was good. The characters pretty much moved the plot, and were quite likable. Looking forward to the next volume!
I now should start my reread of Oregairu...

@cosm1cfall im excited about So what, I’m a spider volumes coming out this month. Both scheduled for the same day so not sure which to read first. Probably spider Cuz I love that series so much.

Just read it based on your recommendation and got through it pretty quick. As you say, it is very fun to read. LNDB lists it as currently being 8 volumes, so plenty more to come - it's just a shame it isn't being translated by JNC with their super fast translation speeds.

Picked this up on a whim a few days ago, haven't had a chance to read it yet but it sounds like I really have something to look forward to.

@hyferzftw I also read Spider volumes the moment they come out. But yeah it's a Yen Press title so it's been 4 months since the last one, and I barely remember what happened lol.

JNC's super-fast translation speeds are great for finished series. I'm curious as to what catching up actually does for sales - whether or not the inability to preorder the next volume causes a dropoff in sales after it's eventually announced.
Yen seems more interested in having a continual drip to make sure people can keep reading the series. They are releasing it faster than Japan (one volume every 3-4 months vs. one volume every 5-6), so at this rate they'll catch up eventually.

Well now that I've started reading volume 1 I guess I'll share my thoughts on it. The first chapter was pure setup and honestly I didn't find it all that interesting but since it had the burden of setting up the rest of the series I felt this was forgivable.
The second chapter was much better though as Tomozaki's social awkwardness made for some pretty good comedy, nothing that made me laugh too hard but enough that I was kept entertained. Hopefully it only gets better from here.
