On another note, My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! will also resume in early November. I am the editor, and with the pressures of the breakneck speed we're publishing Ascendance of a Bookworm, in addition to some recent restructuring of the company and preparation for Anime New York City, I haven't been able to get back to it until now.

Thanks for getting back to Ascendance of a Bookworm so swiftly after Part 2 Vol 1; I am also looking forward for the return of Bakarina.

Thanks to Emily Sorensen for all her hard work at JNC, appreciate the work you all doing

Understandable. But thanks for at least posting this to let us know and not leaving us hanging out there with no information. The update is very much appreciated.

Yeah it’s not great when a promise is made and then not kept.

Better to say “some time soon” rather than give a a set time like early November which has come and gone with no release.

We apologize for the confusion and lack of release, a last-minute emergency situation forced us to miss the early November date. We hope to have it launched as soon as possible but do not have an ETA at this time.

Sam posted something in Discord last week that implied something else came up after that initial projection of when it would be resuming (he said something like "the series is cursed").

If he had said that about The Magic in this Other World is Too Far Behind! I would have totally believed it. Unwanted Undead Adventurer? Not so much so. It's just Rentt plodding along.

(He has also said that about Too Far Behind as well. I also immediately associated the word "cursed" with Too Far as soon as he said it for UUA.)

@jason-maranto Bakarina is still being worked on, same logistical obstacles as before have not yet been resolved. No updates on Undead, unfortunately.

At least it's not as bad as one peace books delaying shield hero like a year because of a "minor translating" error.

@galactuskahn24 I was under the impression that they were re translating the whole book hence the long delay, do you have a source on what caused the delay I'd kinda like to know?

I never understood why they'd go on hiatus publishing it while within the sphere of influence of the anime timeperiodwise?

On another topic, any news on Siskan v5/final?

@korppi At this stage I'd consider Siskan abandoned, apparently J-Novel lose the licence if the final volume isn't out before the end of this month and it hasn't started pre pub yet.

I haven't been following Siskan, but it saddens me to think that JNC would leave some members hanging. I know there may be reasons etc why JNC would lose a license before a series is complete (or chose to discontinue translating a series if not popular/low sales)

I'd like to see some kind of announcement if a series is being dropped

                                I read banned books

RE Siskan, I thought I remember Sam recently posting that it was actually another year (as opposed to this year like he had said previously). But that recollection is a bit vague, so I could be mistaken.

Either way, even if the license expires, Sam can (probably) just license it again if he wants. But regardless of the license status, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it at this point.

I do remember Sam saying on discord that Siskan was a 5 year contract or sth. So he's still got a little under 2 years left to get that final volume out.

Sam's own words: "We will never drop a series aside from issues on the Japanese side or the dissolution of the business."

                                      @doublemangekyo

I seem to remember the same sentiment: Sam committed to translate as long as he's allowed to.

so if Siskan is 'abandoned' its because of the something outside of JNC's control (I assume) and I'd like for there to be something official (on JNC's site, not in discord/curiouscat/twitter)

at this point (on my part at least) it's all speculation - we don't know if Siskan is cancelled, delayed, or merely just a time lag longer than usual between volumes?

I don't expect Sam/JNC to share whatever dirty laundry / details of the sausage making process etc, there may be. Things in negotiation, business reasons for delays, etc are topics that are not necessarily for public eyes. I do expect that when a series/project is ended/cancelled (i.e. New Life+) that we get told about it (as we were w/ New Life+)

I think that the frustration that some are expressing is about lack if info/ definitive timelines
(heck, folks complained when latest Bookworm installments was delayed by a day or 2)

Personally - I'm anxiously awaiting the super deluxe Bakarina LN/Manga hybrid volume that's next - I don't know when it's coming- just that we've been assured that it's in the works

I've not been following Siskan - but those who do, I imagine would like the same assurances

                                      I read banned books

Honestly even after read the comments in this topic I am still not sure how this turned into a Siskan delay thread...either way this is still technically a delay thread so I guess carry on...?

Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.
