Anyone else here who gave this series a try?

The start was more enjoyable than expected, but by all means it was nothing special. I even feel like as if I have seen that plot elsewhere before, with a reincarnation of a demon lord who ends up in an academy just to find out he is superior despite he wanted to be average, since everyone else in the world turn weaker after his leave.

I read this one a few weeks ago.
I found it enjoyable enough. The theme has a few parallels with Abilities Average and Survived Alchemist, so it wasn't exactly ground breaking. The first volume felt like a good enough introduction to the characters, but I'll be interested to see where it goes now that there will probably be more school stuff in it from here.

@serah Yeah, although he only really wants to make 100 friends, it's Ginny that is pushing him to get 100 girls.
But I'm not taking that too seriously since it's just going to part of the comedy of the relationship with him and Ginny.
Although with this type of story, Ard is just going to be surrounded by girls anyway because it is that type of wish fulfilment fantasy.

@timmaaah since Ginny is a succubus it is hilarious from the very beginning...

Yet not as hilarious as the reasoning behind why his parents know he is not their "natural" son. I really did not see that fun fact coming. Same with his former subordinate of which he thought that the subordinate harboured feelings for Olivia. But nope... that was not the actual story...

Thankfully there is only a few more weeks until vol. 2 gets released. A quick turn around on this one :D

To be honest I kind of preferred Me A Genius in terms of "overpowered person just wants to live a normal life and not stand out" stories, but it is still a story of that subgenre, so I'm happy with it.

I just kind of wish Ard's troubles all came from his own lack of common sense and bizarre actions, rather than how some of the attention was thrust on him by others like Principal Golde.

It's also kind of amusing how Ard refers to Ireena as "my daughter" for most of the book. Although it does get kind of confusing how Ginny can flip from confident seductress to low self-esteem wallflower as the plot demands.

Just finished this and really didn’t like it. I won’t say too much more because I don’t like bagging on things other people like, but outside good art and short chapters I found little that I enjoyed.

I bought this because I ended up liking Holy Knight waaaaay more than expected and thought this might have a similar vibe.

Oh, by all means - please share your thoughts freely. Without a criticising opinion neither a review or discussion would be complete. I am always convinced even fans have to accept any kind of feedback, as long as it is feedback. I do not think anyone here would mind, unless the forums culture forbids. In fact: criticism and diversity on opinions on a novel may lead to valuable tips one would not know better ones existing. I will certainly look up Holy Knight.

I am fully acknowledging your dislike for the novel, and I have my own thoughts of it as well - about what makes the novel good and less enjoyable than others. Like: with so many novels, anime, manga sharing the same basic idea of plot - by having an overpowered character + harem - you not only start to get fed up but also start to evaluate which are good or not by sense.

Unfortunately, as it goes for me, I am lacking the ability to access the whole range of Japanese web novels. What I like to say: we have little to no power to influence the translations which finally becomes available for us. Despite some stories are impressively good, they seem never to see a western release due mainstream factors. And then it can be still better to have such a casual/generic novel, lacking special stuff which makes it uniquely good, than having none.

Yes, definitely

It helps me decide on a book when someone says what they thought was good or bad about it.

I gave Kobold King a mostly negative review in its forum thread, but I tried to say what I liked and disliked about it so someone with different tastes than mine could tell if my dislikes applied to them.

Ok then, I just don't want to be the one to piss on people's fun.

My issues with this one are I thought the writing itself was mediocre. The descriptions light, the characters thinly drawn out, the plot and plot structure are derivative of far better books. Furthermore, the basic selling point doesn't really work as

Also the fan service is just super juvenile, super grade school level descriptions of boobies and bubble butts. Embarrassingly so. I'm not against fan service (I recently just finished and enjoyed Busy Wizard), but fuck this fan service was just the dumbest I've read since Battle Divas. In fact this and Divas are probably my least favorite light novels I've read (and I've read several hundred).

However as mentioned I did like the at quite a bit and short chapters made it far easier and faster to finish than Divas. So there are a few pluses.
