Any Food Related Light Novels?

New Bookwalker license announcement tomorrow. Will it be food related? Isekai Shokudo / Restaurant To Another World is an anime now, so that could be good to license. Let's wait and see. ๐๐

@Terrence I kinda hope not I really want that series but I would prefer JNC picking it up for speedy Translations and also DRM free downloads.

Whelp, no food, but it's a Shogi focused novel, Ryou No Oshigoto. โโโโ

I am a librarian, lol. So no wonder I seem that way. =P
I love looking through Bookwalker JP to find stuff. They've got some really neat resources there, like the recommended tabs and "what others bought" tabs below the book you're looking at, so you can find some really out there stuff. =]
-
@terrence thatโs good to know.

@terrence Isekai Ryouridou is quite good. I've read the first 4 volumes of it in Chinese. It's got fleshed out characters, as well as an unique setting and world.
Also, no battles, crazy cheat powers, just straight forward cooking cooking and more cooking.
The premise: Our MC, Asuta, is a chef to "dies" when he runs into a burning restaurant to save his precious cooking knives, only to wake up in woods in another world. He's rescued and taken in Aifa, a member of a clan of barbarian-like hunters.
Her clan lives off of a giant boar-like animal known as the Giba, who resides in the woods. They're dangerous to hunt and taste very bad, but to the clan who lives in the woods, food is merely a necessity of life. They have little culture of cuisine, and considering cooking to be pointless as beyond getting food edible.
Asuta sets out to prove his worth by introducing the joys and benefits of cooking to Aifa and her clan, as well as develop ways of preparing Giba to improve it's taste. His goal is to make Aifa say that his meals are delicious!

@chi-c He goes into the restaurant to save the cooking knife of his father.

I kinda wanna read it now XD

I feel like Yen Press wants us to forget Elf Pizza Parlor exists.
I mean, it looks like it only has the original one volume since February of 2017, so maybe it got canned in Japan and they don't want an unfinished series to be held against them. Has Yen ever published a cancelled series' books?
-
@terrence They do have a release date for Isekai Pizza Parlor. It's set for October 30th

Ah, nice.
I do wonder what's going on with this one and how complete it is. I'll totally get it, but yeah, no release in over a year concerns me a bit (at least I don't see another volume on Bookwalker). I can't imagine this type of setup wraps up in a single volume, but I guess we'll see.
Which one did you guys think would have more sticking power when you heard about them originally, Pizza Parlor or Vending Machine?
-
@terrence I'd say Isekai Vending Machine. I had heard about it at least through the jokes. (It's surprisingly a good series so far from the first volume.) Isekai Pizza Parlor I'm very aware of because of how fucking long it took for Yen Press to announce a release date for it. (It's coming out more than a year after it was announced.)
-
I thought Vending Machine was just a fake created image when I first saw it. When I found out it was real, I thought it was a one volume parody.
Now I have the novel, I see how many volumes it has, and I know this is serious business (well... Not too serious, but it's definitely much tamer than I thought it would be; figured there'd be more euphemism regarding the vending machine release compartment and the stock of items).
Pizza Parlor I heard of. I don't really like Elves, but I like pizza! Beyond that, I kind of forget how I initially reacted to it.
-
I am still holding out hope we get one of these food related novel's at some point.
Restaurant to Another World
Isekai de Cafรฉ o Kaiten Shimashita
Afterlife Inn Cooking - although this being Kadokawa i doubt it, and the anime is so Awesome, that i kind of want to skip the anime & go right to the novels for a change.
I got to say i am looking forward to the Pizza Parlor & Elf one, though.
