So just Ragnarok, Realist Hero, and Next Life as a Villainess left. Personally looking forward to the latter two.

Just stumbled across this old CuriousCat answer. Think it explains quite a bit about delays... https://curiouscat.me/jnovelclub/post/903695529

@melicans

The opening post actually explains why there are delays:

Unfortunately, the editors of these series were unable to continue on the projects, so we have been onboarding new editors. It has been taking time for the new editors to get up to speed, especially in the cases where the series is already many volumes in.

Granted other unforeseen circumstances have cause some series to see more delays, but not necessarily pertaining to the actual volume being licensed.

@rahul-balaggan

so to summarize- Only Ragarok and Bakarina are unknowns at this point?

Rahul Balaggan

@jon-mitchell Ragnarok & Realist Hero have new editors getting up to speed on the titles.

Bakarina has run into additional delays, so that is the only unknown

Someone we already know from other series?
You mentioned that so often lately, I have to ask.

LegitPancake

@serah Ragnarok is being edited now by @Fyurie, and they are reading through the series getting acclimated on the writing/TL style. I don't think the new editor for Realist Hero has revealed themselves yet.

How does one become an editor? I am quite interested and quite qualified!

LegitPancake

@andy-morales Email jobs@j-novel.club with your resumé and wait for a response, I guess.

Serah

The feeling is somewhat uneasy when it is said the editors (or translators) are exchanged to "speed things up". I rather prefer to wait and keep the same team to ensure the same quality rather than having a new release faster. I would not mind waiting an extra year, if the delay is reasoned well.

Aruseus493

@serah They aren't exchanging editors/translators to "speed things up." It's cause the previous staff have left the company for one reason or another.

Serah

@aruseus493 I see. Thanks for the clarification.

LegitPancake

Yea, the phrase “getting up to speed” is a common one in English that just means to become acquainted with current events, not to actually go faster. The new editors are getting accustomed to the translation and writing style of their respective series in order to maintain the consistency in future volumes.

HOORAY!

So, to recap, only Ragnarok and Bakarina are left from the initial list of delays.

BartzBB

I wish both Ragnarok and Bakarina returns before the end of the month.
