Yen Press delays LNs (sadface)
-
https://yenpress.com/ - "we will be taking the books previously solicited for May – August and relisting those titles throughout the May – September period. This will help to reduce the burden on our production and distribution channels as well as our retail partners, "
The May 19 Kindle editions were rescheduled last night, including the one I was most looking forward to, Strongest Rearguard volume 3 pushed back to June 23 along with Woof Woof Story (which Campfire Cooking fans really should check out).
Curse you, pandemic!
... and thanks to JNC for keeping everything on schedule so far. Stay safe editors and translators we need you now more than ever :)

Tanya as in Youjo Senki? Crying face

I don't really understand why they are delaying epub version when it seems like the kind of work which would be done through telecommuting even before the pandemic ?
Well, with the number of volumes I (and likely a lot of people here) already need to finish it's not a problem, but I'm interested if someone has an explanation. -
Yeah, I got a slew of emails informing me of release delays for lots of ebooks from Yen, all of which have been pushed to June 23rd.
Which is the surprising part for me: I understand the need to potentially delay releases due to admin issues from Covid-19, but having the new date be the same for like five books (and probably more that I haven't personally ordered) strikes me as unusual.

It might just be because they publish a lot of titles. For my 4 May 19 preorders 2 were pushed back just 1 week (Death March, Alchemist Who Survived) and 2 to June 23 (Rearguard, Woof).
-
@HarmlessDave Makes sense; the titles I pre-ordered might just coincidentally have the same new release date. (Rearguard and Woof like you said, along with 300 Years, Treason Prince, and Slime Reincarnation).

@HarmlessDave 2 debut series got pushed from may to end of July
HIGH SCHOOL PRODIGIES HAVE IT EASY EVEN IN ANOTHER WORLD!
MAY THESE LEADEN BATTLEGROUNDS LEAVE NO TRACE(announced in July 2019)
and series Eminence in the Shadow was pushed again to July(series was announced in may 2019 and was scheduled for November 2019) -
It's really annoying having to wait for paperbacks to come out when YP delays things. I wish they'd just switch to early digital releases already...
-
Mahouka 16 getting delayed to October?! Forget the pandemic, I'm definitely going to have serious Miyuki withdrawal.
-
@kannasp Hmmm... Guess I'm going to get an email from RightStuf about that, because I just ordered v16 earlier tonight. It's not as serious withdrawal for me, 'cuz I still have the fan translations to v19 if I really need a fix, but.
-
@kannasp Oh, so then I won't care until next year.
I was less than impressed with the official translation on that one, but I would like to see the story to the end.

I hope it doesn't take too long to release the next Danmachi Volume, I'm kinda concerned since I'm not even seeing it listed on Amazon.
-
@Eternal-Wanderer was pushed back to june 23rd with a lot of their titles
-
@Eternal-Wanderer They are practically caught up on Danmachi (only 1 book not released last I checked). From my experience, a one year delay on the latest book is quite normal for Yen Press. Granted there are exceptions, but I have seen a year delay or more enough so that it does not surprise me.
That being said I am anxiously waiting for it as well.
-
@Jbyer18 There is no listing at all for Danmachi volume 15 anywhere. Unless you can prove me wrong.
The volume came out in Japan in June 2019, Yen Press should at least have a pre-order by now. -
@LegitPancake my mistake I only glanced at te notification and it's for sword oratoria series of danmachi
Also July 21

This tweet indicates that they have/are working on the license, just no date yet. Given the delays I wouldn't expect this until at least October. I believe SO12 released after DM15 in Japan originally, so publishing in this order is a little odd,
