Any Chance "New Life +" Will be back in 2020

I was just wondering if there is any chance that "New Life +" will make a return in 2020. I really enjoyed the series and surely 2 years has been long enough that we can hopefully bring this series back and re-start translating.
While I have been enjoying the manga version, it releases at a sufferingly slow pace so I was really hoping that there was a glimmer of hope that we could start seeing this title resume it's translation.

I wonder? Are there new volume releases in Japan? is the Manga translation licensed? if so that would be a good sign. Anything else from this author been licensed in translation in the last few months? also would be a good sign. If not maybe he's "blacklisted'--not officially just that no one wants to take a chance on offending whoever, which would mean that NewLife+ is essentially dead. If that is the case; the author, if getting any work at all, might be writing under a new pen-name...maybe a newlife+esque plot line is being recycled? who knows (if anyone does know, let us know (I'd like to know what happens if I can decipher the other work)...Regardless, I doubt that JNC will be the ones to go out on a limb if the original publisher isn't

I was checking new releases and was curious about this just the other day, actually.
So New Life+ itself hasn't had a new volume since 18 back in 2018. The manga is not licensed in English, but its serialization is by Kadokawa, so that's why it was able to keep going despite the problems with the anime (since the LN itself and probably the anime production were all being handled by Hobby Japan). However, the author's other series, the Broke Mercenary one, did just get a new volume a couple months ago, so the author isn't completely "blacklisted" as it were.
As for whether JNC can start it back up, I unfortunately don't have an answer to that. I can bring it up with Sam, but the last couple times I asked out of curiosity it didn't seem like anything had changed.

As far as I know, there were not any new releases of the LN in Japan. But the Manga is still going on so I was just hoping that there was a chance that JNC would continue the translation.On another note, as far as I know the publisher in Japan didn't cancle the series but put it on hold until the matter was resolved or the opportunity to continue it presented itself. From what I know, the series was a rather popular one so I was just hoping that there was a chance that we could start seeing the translating start up again.

Face it, the series is DEAD! The Japanese publisher (HobbyJapan, I believe) killed it and withdrew all print/digital releases from sale/circulation; there is nothing JNC can do to change this. It is also unlikely that any Japanese LN publisher will take it over.
I have noticed in the past that Japanese companies are not as lenient as people/companies/organisations in the U.S. and other western nations are. I have read several news articles over the years where some singer, actor, or sports figure gets arrested or charged with some crime (usually drug use/posession) and at that point their career is over. ( I remember a story from 2018 or 2019 where the actor who dubbed one of the characters in the Japanese release of 'Frozen' was arrested on drug charges and Disney yanked the DVD so that the character could be re-dubbed by someone else.)
Given all that, I would just forget that "[New Life +]" ever existed in the first place.

All the parties involved seem to have moved on from the LN. The web novel hasn't been updated since May 2018. Even the manga hasn't gotten a new volume since July of 2019, we'll see if that continues (maybe someone that knows more about the monthly publications will know if it's still running).

@lighthawk96 Pretty sure this not happening author was arrested in Japan for kiddy porn. Was a huge scandle. Was a post on it year and half ago here in the forums.

Ain't it because of the speculation that the racist ideals of the author was incorporated into the series?For those that forgot or not in the know, the main reason why this series stopped publishing was that at the time of writing of this series (when it was still a WN) the author kept on posting racist things about China on twitter. After few years passed and when an anime adaptation was green lit some Chinese SJW actually took the time to review all of the authors old and I mean years old twitter post and somehow connected it to the setting of the MC. Wherein he hypothesizes that the MC was part of some war between Japan and China some years ago and he killed a lot of Chinese people. This is because the setting of the MC states that when he was still alive in Japan he was a killer who killed thousands of people.
Thanks to all this facts and coincidences the SJW guy slammed the author as a racist and it trended to the point that the Chinese companies who were part of the anime project were backing out followed by their Japanese partners and it became a huge scandal in the anime industry.
IMHO, I couldn't care less if the author is a racist or if he inserted some racist ideals on his work it's still the readers decision if he/she will take to heart the racism implied in the book. When I was reading the pre-pubs before I didn't even notice any racist thing in the story. Even after the incident I still couldn't pinpoint anything racist in the story. People only said it was racist because of the speculation of the MC's setting by the SJW dude based on some twitter posts by the author so many years ago.

I don't get it - but I'm not a person in the group offended by the series, so I can't really 'speak' to the justice /injustice of the issue . Apparently the author is no longer on a "no go' list but this series is what got him on that list for a while, so I can see why it's a 'hot potato'

which goes to prove that:
- the internet is forever: folks can dig up tweets/ FB posts, comments on JNC forums etc years after they are initially released into the wild.
- what you say/post can come back and 'bite you in the butt', maybe even years later.
I don't want to get into whether 'art can be separated from the artist', opinions vary. Regardless I would not be surprised if this never sees the light of day beyond what is already 'out there' . I don't believe that this title is important enough to the original publisher (or JNC for that matter) to put that much effort in continuing the project.

but is the Japanese publisher motivated to license them? or maybe they feel it's better to not 'open this particular can of worms'? How important is this particular series to the publisher? perhaps they think that the profile would be too high (in not a good way) in perusing the revenue of licensing a translation and to instead focus on the author's new works?
how important is the project to JNC? there were 2 (?) volumes translated out of JNC's library of 450 +/-, JNC does not have infinite resources to assign translators/editors/etc. Would it sell well enough to justify trying to get it again? (even without the notoriety?) Does the benefit justify the cost?
I'm guessing that to the Japanese publisher, this series isn't 'big' enough to focus on. The anime deal is dead, to them there is such a thing as 'bad publicity'. They will focus on other projects. And this problematic series is now 'dead to them'. In which case JNC can't have it even if they wanted it.
I'm not discussing the 'justice' of this series being published or not, I found it entertaining enough, but not particularly groundbreaking or anything. It wasn't so different/great that I feel too much loss for it not to continue (so much great stuff has come out since) .
