My Next Life as a Villainess - anime discussion

Oh my goodness yes, Anne's backstory was so good to see here.
-
@lighthawk96 i was surprized as well. Its nice to see second side of story and if they had "one shot" thing, using Anne's was nice. Although i still think they could do 2 parts like "My Roommate Is a Cat" anime. First part was owner's eyes, second from cat's.

@hopebestman
They could. But I still really liked how they inserted this story. It didn't feel like a wasted episode. It felt like it definitely had purpose which it did. -

im not talking 2 part thing for this episode. I was talking for all other side-stories. For example we didnt see "why prince choose Katarina" or spesific stories. Yeah we saw Keith's some of the side stories but Bakarina has always 2 part of the story. Anyway, i just watched 9 episodes in one sit and read the 4 volumes in 2-3 days. So im not a big fan of series yet but still after watching many many animes, you get many wishes "ah, if they would do like that, it would be much much better" kind a :D

Ok, after volume 5, everything become more clear :D lets forget about "anime created new episodes" thing :D

Well, it takes work for anime to elevate the source material but I absolutely feel like it did so with episode 11. The whole sequence of her school life comes out better as well as the rather dark implications behind Acc-chan hunting for her and ending up as Sophia.
-
@hopebestman I think this was the best way to add it. In the book it feels more like an addendum but here it fits in the whole anime season.
I must say I am impressed by how the animated this. This is till now the second best adaption (of those I know of) of a LN. I like ti especially that they animated extra content which was not in the book (or only slightly mentioned). And best of all they seem to end it at a good point (if it is not a 2 cour anime).
-
I do have to say that the reveal of the connection between Sophia and Acc-chan is a whole lot less subtle in the anime than I remember it being in the LN.

It was. The light novel dropped a few clues, but none of them were obvious and it didn't come out and say it until the scene when she did the dream-dive to pull her out of the dark magic coma. The anime pretty much made it obvious from the time Katarina watched her run up the stairs to get a book a couple episodes from the beginning.

@pcj Wasn't it also mentioned in the books that her gait looked familiar? And I recall an early part in the second book where Katharina also mentioned something how similar both are. But I can be wrong as quite some time has gone by as I read those parts.

Crunchyroll once again partnering with Sentai Filmworks to release Bakarina (and other shows) on bluray in the US.

I feel like there's been a heck of a lot of anime-only content in the current season. It's pretty good anyway. It feels like the anime-original content is actually filling in gaps in the novel instead of trying to go its own direction (most of it seems to be taking place during a time period that kind of got skimmed through in the novel (Katarina's senior year at the academy).
I particularly enjoy Frey and Ginger (who replaced Nichol and Raphael on the student council after they graduated) and I don't remember them actually getting named in the novel. Nichol and Frey seem like they're a complete fit for each other (as friends, no romance ever). Ginger seems to want to join Katarina's harem, but I'm guessing she didn't make it there in the novel because Frey got to her first. Frey seems to be very interested in Ginger. :-) Frey doesn't want to chase after Katarina as a follower like everyone else. She wants to BE Katarina (well, be like her at least). She felt trapped in the nobility and was inspired by Katarina to untrap herself.

OK, I've binge-watched season 1 several times now since it's release on BD. I have to say that the anime pace and what is included/left out gives me a different take on Catarina vs. Katarina.
The actions of Catarina are more like, "Oh yes, this is a death flag! I have to do something about it," but then she acts just like her original incarnation in Japan... Friendly towards everyone around her, not changing her (previous life's) behavior. Even falling on Keith had a precedent in falling out of a tree onto A-chan.
Maybe it's just how compressed things are in the anime. Guess I'll have to re-read the novels again at a similar pace.
