"We're considering picking up a new light novel to translate! So please send us your suggestions here (link on post)".

Time to request there too. x)

good luck.

I am not too fond of Bookwalker. Bad editing, awful typesetting and a god damn unbreakable DRM. Can't say I am happy with their choices of translators either.
-
Not too familar with bookwalker (mostly heard about DRM), but their page for Ryuo promotion sure is impressive, in a way:
What t
he fuck
, bookwalker?
!
The background on the bottom deserves dishonorable mention as well. -
And The translator is the guy who couldn't keep track of the terminology in Danmachi. Also made questionable translation choices. :man_facepalming_tone1:

I'm not a huge fan of their service because it's the one that I can't get text to speech to work on, no matter what I try.
...but I want more light novel titles. xC

If Bookwalker is so questionable, I think bothering other translation companies might be better. We are kind of at a point where English LNs can feasibly go to a decent number of companies, so there's no need to grovel at the feet of a less reputable one and tie up a license if you think it won't turn out so great.
Have One Peace Books or Cross Infinite World been looking for license feedback? What about Dark Horse? Are there any crowdfunding projects looking at light novels?
-
I just don't like their client, myself.
But, questionable as it is, it's owned by Kadokawa, and is another chance for certain light novels that Yen hasn't licensed.
-
Also they are only exclusive to bookwalker for six months so any title they do will come to other formats before long, so it’s still worth voting. There’s still waaaaaay more untranslated LNs than translated ones.

There should be. T.T
I requested a Kadokawa one, Sakurako-san. Are those the difficult licensor? Figure it's better to pick something that seems impossible / has been passed over for too long by other pubs.

Ah, yes, maybe there's a chance for Sakurako-san!
-
I read that the Baker & Automaton translation couldn't even get the names straight in the first version they rolled out, not to mention being riddled with various other issues.
Anyway, I'd say it's worthwhile to request things if only because as @dtta mentioned, they can perhaps get some Kadokawa stuff more easily than some others.

I highly doubt anyone's gonna touch that with a license because of some of the content. Even Hybrid x Heart Magias Academy Ataraxia would have a bigger chance of license and that one's gone bonkers enough...

Is the LN version that bad content wise? (heard the WN went down a risque route).
I'm looking for something dramatic with some more dire consequences for the supporting cast. Outside of Grimgar, seems like we got mostly happy-go-lucky romance or battle shounen.
Suppose I should add Alderamin of the Sky since that is a good wartime one we don't have yet.
-
@terrence I've only read some of the wn, so yes, it's possible the light novel version is toned down. No idea.
-
Any news if Class room of the elite was licensed?

Not that I’ve heard, but I just added it to ANN after discovering it was the only one of the 2017 best sellers not to have an entry - although not all of the others have been licensed yet either (Eromanga Sensei and Akashic Bastard being the other two exception, and all from Kadokawa it its subsidiaries).
-
@shiroi-hane the infamous Kadokawa is probably the reason lol...
-
@lazyproblems Owing that one on Bookwalker, it is (present tense) a mess. It certainly was not copy edited, and very much inconsistent. They picked a good story though.
-
Bookwalker is taking feedback submissions about their app.

I just threw out the usual (I want Text to Speech and maybe Google Translate) and the simple things they already had a poll on (vertically and horizontally scrolling novels).
