App Function Request- Ability to Read E-pubs

First, I'm stoked that you all picked up Outbreak Company and How Not to Summon a Devil Lord, so thank you for that.
I do have a request/question in regards to the Android/Apple app (I'm currently using Android). Are there any plans to add a feature where you can read the e-pubs you purchased on there, or would you all be willing to consider it in the future? I ask because I sit at a computer for 10+ hours a day for my job, so when I get home it would be nice to be able to read the e-pubs like the first few volumes of Realist and For My Daughter via the app on my phone, rather than having to again sit at the computer in order to relax by reading lol.

@derpypenguin Only Sam can answer your question about the app, but I can offer some unsolicited advice: If you just want to read on your phone, there are apps like Moonreader, Prestigo and FBReader. But if you really spend much time on a computer, even the LCD/OLED displays of a phone will stress your eye because of their active lighting. So I'd recommend investing in some e-Ink Reader.

Ah, thanks for those suggestions for the e-pub readers. It's not that I don't want to read on a computer because of eye strain, but more like I don't want to sit in a chair. After I get back from the gym and such, I want to read whilst flopped on my bed or something

What I do, is I convert the epub3 file to mobi, and then email to my kindle. Then, I can read the books on my kindle app on my phone.

@legitpancake you can send them to Play Books on Android with no need to convert them, the problem with mobi is it compresses the illustrations. Only reason I'd see to butcher the epubs and making them mobi is if you had a Kindle e-reader, but definitely not for the phone app

@paulnamida Well, I’ve never noticed any lowering of quality when I convert to mobi, especially since it’s on my phone. I do often read on my kindle Paperwhite when I feel like it. Also I have an iPhone not an Android haha.

I'm sure when I convert to mobi in Calibre there's an option to not compress stuff and not convert images to another format - though I suppose it may change the resolution automatically and not say anything, but I'm sure the pictures were still the same size & quality regardless of whether I used the Kindle or Play Books (native epub) apps. (I prefer Kindle because I can sort series together, Play only does that with a series bought from them not for uploads)
But TL;DR - pretty much every Android phone has Play Books preloaded & it is a damn fine ereader app, so you probably don't have to mess with apps at all just share the files to Play books and boom, done.

While I can convert to read on my Kindle easy enough I honestly don't understand the point of the App without the ability to read books in your library.

The point of the app is to read prepubs on mobile rather than using a mobile web browser - that's it.

IMO, the very best EPub Reader for Android is Lithium. Nice, simple, works well. Then again, I just want to read. All the weird bells and whistles tend to annoy me in those. It lets you do the usual useful things, like increase/decrease text, do themes, and so on.

I need text to speech. So EReader Prestigio for me.
There is a new challenger to this in UB Reader. It can read Adobe Digital files (Kobo books site downloads) if you sign into your Adobe account...
But the text to speech with Ub is locked behind a 5 dollar pay-wall. The dream of having my one Kobo book read to me is not worth spending 5 bucks I think (would cost me 10 to just repurchase the book on Google Play). :cry:

EReader Prestigio or Ub Reader apps? In Prestigio, you just lightly tap on the screen while reading a book, then click on the speech bubble looking thing at the top (at least on Android).
But Apple's Kindle Books app? Only some devices that have the Kindle Books app have text to speech natively. I don't really understand why. =[
It would be an option in the menu on the top left or something?
You can use your accessibility to have stuff read to you on Android (and I'd assume IOS too), but it's awkward to say the least. See if I can find instructions.
Here's one set of Instructions:
To listen to your book: From the Home screen of Kindle for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, tap a book to open it. While reading, tap the center of the screen, and then tap the Listen icon. From the mini-player screen, tap the Download icon to begin downloading the audio companion
If that doesn't work, you're going to have to enable accessibility settings, which is the awkward part.
All that's left is to open a book in Kindle, iBooks, or wherever, and swipe two fingers down from the top of the screen to start Siri reading. Siri will read literally any visible text, so be sure to tap the screen once to remove any extraneous elements (such as the book's title, number of pages left, etc.). Siri even flips the pages as it reads along.

Yeah, but it still seems a pain in the rump. I guess the dream is still alive...
