Does Google Books have DRM-free download like some music does?
There may be a way to do that, but I don't know how.
Quick Google search says this about Google Books:
On your computer, go to Google Play Book, and then click on "My Purchases". Choose a book, select the "More" menu (3 vertical dots) next to the title of the book, and then select "Download EPUB"
I'd test it first on a free book / book you own already.
I know Kobo has Epubs... Though those have Adobe Digital DRM in them. =[
-
From reading the Google Help it seems it’s going to be Adobe DRM, but my technical knowledge is minimal in those areas
-
All my Google Play Books are Adobe DRM, I've backed them up on my PC and can read them in the Adobe Digital Editions app (YenOn took them away from Australian buyers, which forced me to switch to Amazon for Re:Zero & Konosuba and made me worried I was losing the books I'd paid for - stupid eBook bullshit)

I’m about halfway through Gamers and it’s fun and well translated, reminds me of JNovel stuff. However it’s got a bit of a Lolita “furry” tendency which I’m a bit 🤢 on, but if that’s your bag you’re going to be stoked.
Only real criticism is that there are no real twists thus far, the story is kind of just what you think it’ll be when reading the description unlike Outbreak Company or New Life that subvert your expectations.
-
@the-green-death did Gamers get licenced or is it fan translated?
-
@smashman42 My guess is he's talking about Saikyou Gamer, the one Sol Press licensed.
-
@paulnamida Ah, I got confused & thought this was the general LN thread. D'oh!

Yes sorry, that’s exactly what happened.

Another brief message from the translators, editors, and QA team.
What I got out of this is that, while the story has its light-hearted raunchy moments, there are also...

I finished Strongest Gamer a few days back and it sort of rotated from Survival Game to Kingdom Building to Battle Game and it was pretty fun but I don’t know if I liked it enough to buy volume 2. I’m behind on other series I like better. I’ve preordered Battle Divas so we’ll see how that fairs. I was less interested in it out of the two, but I’ve been surprised before and want to support any new LN company at least as far as their first few releases.

One of the members of the Sol Press crew on Strongest Gamer posted a small Giveaway of the digital book on Twitter.

@terrence Don't have Twitter :(
-
@legitpancake I made a Twitter account specifically to do random contests and stuff with mobile games lol. Otherwise I too hate how it's kind of taken over the world and barely use it except to show off books I've bought :x

It's free to join. Become a zombie to social media to win prizes!
If I weren't on it, I'd stay off social media though after the whole Facebook App stealing account info to win an election business. Though, I have won a few things through social media, including a game just this week from MoeNovel. O.o

OT: Ever won anything Myskaros?

@myskaros Don't worry, I created my twitter just to harass publishers like Yen Press. All the contests I typically want to enter region restrict to those in Japan. (Overlap does like 3 contests a week via twitter.)
-
Justus R Stone, who has a prerelease copy of Battle Divas, was saying about it:
In some ways, it's exactly what you probably expect. In others, it's actually better than I expected.

Last year, Bookwalker JP did this thing where they gave you the value of a book you want. I was one of the lucky winners (and of course, I picked a 1000 JPY Kadokawa book; dunno if there was a limit on maximum JPY awarded).
For the curious, this was the book... Which I didn't buy yet (waiting on a sale). xC
13 games - and we were killed

Technically I won a bunch of premium tickets on Granblue Fantasy once, but I completely missed the PM and failed to reply in time to claim it haha.
Vader Nooo!

About 20% into Battle Divas, and to be honest, it's not the best. The author took zero time to introduce anyone and basically shot the harem out of a cannon into the story. Feels like there should be 2-3 chapters worth of introduction before the prologue and chapter 1. It makes for a really jarring reading experience. The translation and editing have been good so far though.
-
I started reading a bit of Battle Divas. They kind of throw you right in there, since it is not an Isekai tale nor is it a tale that sees us following someone unaware of the ruling factors or state of the world. We're in the middle of some strife from the start: warring nations, promised betrothals, grudges. There was a word used regarding the Divas abilities or entitlements that hasn't been explained yet ("rasa"; I assume this is just a colloquial term I'm not aware of?).
In fact, I'd say the Divas are more the unaware of the main situation than our protagonist, Sharon being surprised by his thwarting of her attempts at attack. So I wonder if we'll get their perspective at some point.
