Question about books on Amazon
-
So, I download a demonstration of the novel "If It's For My Daughter, I'd Even Defeat a Demon Lord" and whenever I want to see the images they are pretty low res... I'd like to know if that is because it's a demonstration or because the book itself, or rather the kindle app, that has low res images. I'm using Kindle on Android, Galaxy S7. Thanks.

I only buy JNC titles on their site (which come with many bonuses like hi-res images that you do not get at other places) but I think the images should be at least a good res on Amazon and stuff.
-
The res is acceptable when the image isn't a spread, but when it is... oh boy....
But, for real, I want to know if it will be the same way if I purchase it, as I am very interested in it. -
I bought the first volume of "For My Daughter..." on Amazon, and I'd say that the pictures are very high res. Also the first volume of this particular series is especially touching. However, I would recommend trying out the J-Novel membership and buy the ebooks directly from here, and not Amazon. They include bonus short stories not included on Kindle. -
@themario3721 well if it was me I would get the books straight from JNCs site. you can buy a premium membership for one month, buy a bunch of credits (6 USD per credit) and use the credits you buy to get books from here. you get many bonuses as I said if you get JNC book here like hi-res images (trust me they really are hi-res) and depending on the book it could be bonus short stories or textless colour images, or some bonus images.

@legitpancake Could you send the image of the spread? With all the characters in it? It is after that image, I think. It was pretty low res, when I zoomed in.
-
@drone205 It would be a bit expensive for me, I'd rather own it on Amazon. Even more so that I can't find a good epub reader for Android, I just can't find anything that it good enough, lol.

I find this Android app to work quite well for me: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.faultexception.reader
As for the images resolution, I remember reading that Amazon compresses them more compared to Kobo for example. Try looking at the preview of the ebook there and compare the difference.
-
@terabyte That's the thing, I want to know if the fault is with Amazon or the fact that it's a preview.
-
@themario3721 This is the image directly from the Amazon sample. It won't let me download the image from the book that I purchased unfortunately.
-
@legitpancake You can clearly see that the res isn't good. That's the problem I'm having, but, as you said, that's the preview, can you say if the quality is the same on the purchased book?
-
@legitpancake Yeah, that looks REALLY bad. This is the one in the preview over @ Kobo:
It looks much better.
-
@terabyte Your image isn't showing, sad.
-
@themario3721 Fixed.
-
@terabyte Now it showed, outta nowhere. It looks WAY BETTER, like, I mean, I can't even begin to compare how better it looks. Whoa.
-
I can confirm it still looks far better on the book i bought on Amazon.

The resolution alone is totally different:
- Amazon: 1024x758
- Kobo: 2228 x 1650
- JNC: even higher than Kobo (not sure by how much though)
-
@legitpancake I can only conclude that Amazon compresses the images for the preview while Kobo doesn't? It seems the only explanation then...
-
@terabyte I consider that a possibility, that's why I asked in the first place, just to be sure, you know. Anyway, I think that's a pretty bad business decision of Amazon, I am legit considering the purchase on image quality, simply because it IS a Light Novel.
-
@themario3721 as far as price is concerned JNC credits (which are used to get any book on this site) are typically less than Amazon prices (some might be about the same price) especially when you consider all the bonuses you get. the Amazon version is pretty much an inferior version of the JNC version. and I don't know any good android apps for epubs, I use Calibre and I do not think it works with Android.
