Report (old) App Bugs Here!

@crowdcontrol not unless you count web app one (which doesn't support resuming eithter).
Developing native iOS apps requires a mac and also a $99/year subscription if you want to distribute it to something other than your own device or a jailbroken one. -
iOS app (I am reading from an iPhone X), will no longer let you scroll vertically while reading, the page turning option is to sensitive the other way. The problem being it will not let you switch back to the option of scrolling vertically.

@Darkapostle. The app is dead it has not been updated since September 22, 2018. I don't care what j-novel says about beta. All of the talk people are asking for isn't going to happen. This is for the Android version.

Any updates on the app @CHOCOLATKEY ? The Android app (beta and stable) still fails at the basics of reliably allowing people to read the prepubs and resume reading from where they left off.

Choco didn't work on the previous app from what I know. He's doing his best to fix what he can with it, but I hope we can see a brand new revamped app that looks sleek and performs well. Many people have faced issues with the current app and its subpar performance is one reason people shy away from reading the prepubs. I sincerely hope we see a new app and hopefully it's something good and not some kind of wrapper like Fakku's app... That might work with the right infrastructure in the back-end, but a proper app still feels like a better choice for readers.
-
@Immortal-Dreamer Yes, j-novel is hurting themselves and potential subscription by providing a subpar reader. Its worth the investment. I'm also fine without an app, as long as the web-based reader was rich with features. It needs better font/size management

Since updating to iOS 13.4.1 on an iPhone 8 model A1905, I have occasionally had issues where the text doesn’t appear. The first time, it was just in night mode, but it has since occurred with day and dusk as well. Exiting the part and going back in usually fixes it.
Oddly, turning it to landscape and back to portrait also fixes it, but we all know it returns to the beginning of the part. What I didn’t know was that changing the lighting scheme (e.g., night to dusk or day and back again) afterwards restores the position in the story. So there’s a 5-second workaround for the glitch, in case anyone else stumbles across it.

Vertical scrolling setting is not maintained on iPad app, IOS 13.4.1 (17E262).
HTR: open a novel, Set scrolling to vertical, hit ‘apply’. Verify that scrolling is vertical. Close the novel. Open another (or the same novel). Scrolling is >horizontal<. Check settings => scrolling is set to vertical.
Workaround I’m using at the moment: every time opening a novel, change scrolling first to horizontal, click apply, then change it beck to vertical, hit apply again. (To be fair it is quite annoying) -
@sergeys Yep, that's what I've been having to do as well and it's annoying. Since there hasn't been an app update, it might have something to do with the latest iOS software update. Coincidentally, that software update also fixed text-to-speech on the prepubs, so in my opinion I can handle this slight annoyance as long as I can use TTS, but I still would like it fixed.
-
@sergeys Dito with the scrolling.
Happens to me every time I open a new prepub (although it shows in the menu that this one is activated) and even many time when I simply put the app in the background and reopen it. But I assume the last part comes from this bug that if you change the orientation of the phone it brings you back to the beginning.
-
If I try to take the simple reader off (to avoid the >em em< when I'm assuming the text has a sound effect) it goes into repaginating splines and stays there indefinitely.
Logged out and in. Deleted app and reinstalled. Turned off and on phone.
This is for Android app.
Personally I'd prefer a few less licenses and a better app and website. Both really suck, which is a pity because otherwise JNC is awesome.
-
@the-green-death problem is this and that are two different things. You need someone dedicated to make an app. So the licenses are not the problem. Except someone from the staff makes it semi proffesional.

@Drazirach Your log in token has expired. Remove the instance of the app via the recent apps menu and reload to re enter your credentials.
This doesn't work for me, I was having issues on a clean install of the app. It was also a new phone, freshly updated and setup.

Since upgrading to iOS 13.5 from 13.3.1 whenever I open a book part it doesn't allow me to scroll past the first page. I can work around the issue by changing any option and clicking apply but I have to do this every time. I'm using the "stable" version of the app from the app store.
-
On iOS 13.5.0 and 13.5.1 on iPhone 11 Pro when opening a chapter with dark (moon icon) enabled the font and background are both black so it looks blank. I'm also using the dark mode on the phone.
To fix have to pop down the menu and click and apply one of the other themes then go and apply the dark theme again.
-
@jdmmis Yep, just scroll up and you'll see half a dozen other complaints we've been saying for the past month. But there is little sense in reporting bugs in the app now. They are starting from square 1 with brand new apps, and the old ones will not get any further updates. Unless an OS update completely makes it unusable, in which case they may patch in an emergency fix.
-
Hello, can you say if it will release another version for IOS? When I was reading, if the orientation change, the text come back to the begin and restore the default scrowl type, and if the back is on black the screen become blank.

I can't get monday bookworm... it just hangs on member sign in.
I used the same credentials on website and it works there...

Close the app via the recent app list(square on Android/double tap home on iOS). Reopen the app and you should be able to sign in.

Not sure if this has been reported yet but on the Android app, I notice that sometimes words are just missing. I've noticed it tends to happen at the end of a paragraph, or at the end of a page.
For example, in the latest Bookworm pre-pub part at 4% (in the browser reader), one page in my app ends with "...from before; he" and the next page begins with "now looking at me". The word "was" is missing.
Another example from the same part at 14%, one page ends with "...someone, and how" and the next page begins with "poisonous smile". The word
is missing. These particular examples aren't a big deal but sometimes it happens when an important word is missing. I'd have to go to my browser and read that portion again on the mobile browser reader to fully understand the whole sentence. Which also shows that this is an issue with the app and not the pre-pub itself or the browser reader.
Edit: I experimented a little and discovered that this issue with the missing words only seems to happen when I don't have the "simple" reader feature on. With the feature on, the issue seems to go away.
