My Death Flags Show No Sign of Ending
Ore no Shibou Flag ga Todomaru Tokoro wo Shiranai
      Publisher: Takarajimasha
Novel: 4 (Haitus; Last volume released 3/2017)

      Synopsis
When he came to his senses, Hirasawa Kazuki, a normal university student, found himself in possession of the body of a game’s character.

Moreover, it was Harold Stokes, the story’s most hated character who was even given the title 『King of tr*sh』by the players. Myriads of landmines are just waiting for him to step on them, like death flags!

Will Harold be able to clear the survival route while avoiding the countless death flags in his way?!

      MU, LNDB

I'm almost caught up with the fan-translation of this and I've really liked it so far. The MC is trapped in a game he knows well in a villain's body who filters every good thing he wants to say into something mean. He tries to change events enough so that he is not killed, yet tries to make sure some game events still happen so that the hero still wins. He is an overpowered protagonist, but he worked hard every day to become that way.

It's different from other trapped in a game novels like SAO and Log Horizon because he is not in the body of an avatar he created or as himself, but instead in a villain character whose personality we're not sure to treat as the MC's or as a separate personality pressuring the MC.

Apparently there's an upcoming manga adaptation of Death Flags, for Mangabox.

The original webnovel is still ongoing, but the author posts new chapters at a very slow rate ever since 2017, with hiatuses of 1-5 months between chapters. Likely Vol 5 hasn't come out because there isn't enough material for publication.

I second this! Please pick up this series 🤞
Both the novel and the manga! I’m caught up with the web novel at around volume 5 and the “pay-off” are so satisfying to read. As for accolades, the novel won the Grand Prize for the 3rd Net Novel Award (Narou Con).

This is the best death flag trying to clear reads I've ever come across. I was going to suggest it but here it is. I would buy it in a heartbeat if it got translated.

Which is farther along the web or light novel? Also, Baka Updates shows five volumes not four does that mean the series has resumed?

                Hi, how is it going?

Harold is an edgy child who is set to carry the universe in his shoulders, but it's an interesting novel.

                Yes
