[New Life+] Young Again in Another World Light Novel Shipments Halted

@myskaros you are probably enjoying something right now in real life where the ancestors of those people who made the product you enjoyed killed your ancestors. It's simply war/survival/life. Theres no point trying to ruin someone's life for something they themselves haven't committed, and everyone can learn from their mistakes if you let them instead of trying to kill them socially for a past mistake. Don't tell me you never made a single mistake in your life.
If we lived by your thoughts on this I should hate everyone around me according to Chinese history where my country was destroyed and people raped and had to flee. Then the other countries came in and did the same while enslaving many for railroads works. However the past is the past, and the only way for us all to move forward is forgive and don't repeat.

@bryan Like I said, I largely agreed with him. I was just giving an analog of what MINE's actions looked like in a way that might make sense to an American. If someone did write a story like what I described, I would probably think it was tone deaf and not read it, but I would not campaign to have his story removed from publication either.
Not sure why you're trying to paint me as some kind of extremist.

Their only responsibility is to learn from their ancestors mistakes and not do it again.
To preface, I largely agree you. However, if a Japanese author writes about a Pearl Harbor pilot who survives, never gets punished, then ends up becoming a hero and saving the world, you can imagine how that's a bit tone deaf and does not display remorse or learning from their ancestors, yeah?
I personally don't agree. It's a story, not real life. If the person tweeted and said "I wish we got more of that American scum" I would have an issue. If it is several years after they tweeted that and they apologized I wouldn't have a problem.
-
@myskaros he already apologised for those comments and took them off. Theres no longer a reason to beat the dead horse. Many of us simply want to enjoy a good story which New Life+ is for many.
-
I'm a bit amazed that you guys don't seem to at least recognize the dangers of allowing radical ideology to permeate society, but as I've already stated twice now, I have no dog in this race, so I'm out.
-
Everyone I completely understand that this is a very hot button topic here, and it has effected a large a large amount of people in various ways, but lets all just bring it back a bit and just let it be that everyone will view these circumstances a bit different.
Just like any particular light novel we may enjoy or not enjoy everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

@legitpancake Please tag news articles like that with source. There are some web sites that are predatory about thier articles and people (me included) don't visit them.
I at least would appreciate it, as I dont like giving add rev to some companies and am not able to check the source of the link on my phone. -
Is there a time frame for when things may settle down? I get the tweets were bad, and I get he had this coming. I am hoping things will calm down in a month, or so and the author can get back to writing. Rurouni Kenshin's author, in my opinion, had a much worse crime than him, and he is back now so hopefully we can see the return of this series. Thoughts? Also, I hope pulling the Amazon Preorder for the third novel doesn't hurt JNC to much. I read earlier that Amazon will block them from using preorder for a year now, is that correct?
-
Seeing that there's still no update regarding the status of this series on JNC, I guess the people at HJ are still deliberating.
It's good to know that volume 3 at least is still safe though.

I think the better equivalent is the Bataan Death March rather than Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor was belligerent to belligerent, and although the war declaration was late, being under enemy fire with intent to harm is part of the package deal. What separates Pearl Harbor and Heinrich Severloh (Mr. "Lost Count" of how many Americans he killed at Omaha Beach) from Nanking and the Bataan Death March is the matter of belligerence versus gratuitous conduct. There is no good reason why Nanking or the Bataan Death March had to be as punitive as it was. Even without Geneva Convention rules, it's pretty well understood in general that extrajudicial killings of civilians and maltreatment of prisoners is not appropriate behavior. I don't have a problem with the idea of being an effective soldier, it comes with the territory. But war criminal or inhumanity crimes, yeah, there are reasons to condemn it.

I am happy though that Paladin is now getting promoted at the expense of New Life, go William Maryblood!
-
@shrike_al I wouldn't say save. You can no longer find it on Amazon. I got the notification yesterday, and had no idea this had all gone down.

It should be back up for preorder, Sam got the OK from HJ on it.
-
@myskaros I will have to check tomorrow then. I can't find it anywhere on Amazon aside from Japan's Amazon.
-
@myskaros I thought he only got the OK for the prepubs.
Well, if Rurouni Kenshin can come back after THAT, I'm keeping my hopes this series will return in a few months. I mean, the series was about to reach the finish line in Japan anyways right?
-
Hmm, I could have sworn he said Amazon preorders were back up, but now I can't find that anywhere. Sorry if I got your hopes up D:
-
@alocervancouver You our that really well, thank you!
-
@Leondarkfury @myskaros Yeah, I was actually talking about the rest of Vol 3's prepubs. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
-
Really hope the series continues. It's one of the more fun series currently that I look forward to each month.
