Novel pick-up requests
-
(Ok how am I supposed to do this...)
I am not well-versed in the business of novel translations, so my wishes may well be genie-exclusive and can only be granted by the likes of mythical creatures. BUT.
I would love to see translations of the Sound! Euphonium novels, its Rikka spin-off, as well as the Violet Evergarden light novels.
THIS IS A TEST POST. But the request is very real :)
Great initiative with the site!

Did you know that the sound euphonium novels (the originals) were actually not light novels, but normal good old fashioned novel novels?
It means that they were published by a publisher that doesn't publish any other things like we have... It's something I'd love to go after if I have the time.
The spinoffs are normal light novels and they are on my radar too. First step, show those publishers we mean business!Also thanks for proving our forum actually works.

Hello.
I also have a question regarding something a bit more general than a specific licence.
First, I am not really interested by most of the light novels produced today, and would therefore like to know if you would be interested in some "old school" light novels, some of them partially published in the US before being dropped. I am talking about the likes of Kino no Tabi, Boogiepop, Kara no Kyoukai, Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita and others in the same vein.
I know these are not what you would call popular, but do you think there could be a demand for them anyways ?
Thank you.

@DerMond Those are totally on my radar, and I know about the fanbase that's still out there for them. I hesitate to go after them though, since they once had print releases and in many cases like Tokyopop the original translation rights are often in a gray area. We would probably want to retranslate them from the beginning just to be clear.
I wish we could rescue all of these "2009 wave" titles, but I'm unsure of how successful they would be, plus there is the expectations to manage from the Japanese side.
Give us a few months to build a successful community, and then we will see. -
@DerMond Oh except for Junrui Suita... that one I want bad just because I want to translate it myself.

@Sam-Pinansky
Would it be possible for you to acquire some of Kadokawa's titles? -
@IcePhantom Well that's a very perceptive question, what with them recently purchasing Yen Press and all.
What do you think?
-
@Sam-Pinansky
I think it's going to be impossible, considering that this kind of service isn't something Kadokawa would like. I'm not so sure, but that's how it feels like to me.
How about you? What do you think? Is it possible to partner up with them? -
@IcePhantom I think it will take time and a track record of success but it's definitely possible. The more subscribers we have the better the argument I can make to them.
-
@Sam-Pinansky
I see, good luck with that. I hope it works out somehow.
On a side note, I'd recommend picking up the Grimgar series. -

I'm not sure how likely it is but if you could ever license some leftover Dengeki Bunko titles like Toradora, The Pet Girl of Sakurasou, and Shakugan no Shana that'd be awesome.
Also, since you've already published some lesser-known LNs, I'd like to suggest Shomin Sample (Ichijinsha) and Shimoneta (Shogakukan). I enjoyed the anime adaptations of both.
-
I'm echoing others more than anything but I would love to see The Pet Girl of Sakurasou and Hai to Gensou no Grimgar. Toradora would be pretty cool as well but I feel like with the manga and anime I've had my fill of that series overall.
-
My only request would be for my favourite series that always seems to be forgotten: Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko, which was written by Hitoma Irumi, illustrated by Buriki, and published by Dengeki Bunko. The series is complete at 8 volumes, so not overly long. The anime was released in North America by NISA as Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl. If you could get this title I would die a happy man.
-
I'd love to see all five books of Hajime Kanzaka's Lost Universe done. The anime was good, but I hear the books are even better.
-
@Melicans There are a lot of series from those seasons 5 years ago or so, C3, kuro usagi, dantalian... that were based off light novels that people seem to have forgotten. Denpa Onna seems to be the one people remember the most, though.
