@catstorm I know, right? And people in the LN world complain about 4-6 months :)
-
If anything, Tolkien's Unfinished Tales have taught me to never complain about release dates unless the author dies
-
@catstorm alright alright I’ll stop complaining. Guess I better start taking Japanese classes or something.

I just got my first Japanese novels on Bookwalker to test that out... Though I know no Japanese. xD
We have a distinct lack of OL (office lady) focused light novels, so I grabbed this one!
美人上司とダンジョンに潜るのは残業ですか?
(Are you Working Overtime with a Beautiful Boss and Dungeons?).Edit: The first chapter is titled "Slime is good for Beauty".
Her name is Kuroki Himezo, and the main character is the male employee working under her, Makino. I should try doing a Let's Fumble through Google translation thread.
Edit: Read a bit more of this. It's a bit like GATE in that an Isekai kinds of worms it's entrance into our real world. I think dungeons just start popping up in random houses and ruins across Japan, bringing with them monsters.
But if my Google translation isn't failing me, this all occurs 30 years prior to the book's start, so there's a long history of its existence. Interesting... Oh, turns out their "job" is dungeon questing. The paperwork probably has to do with their expenses and stuff?

Well I like mature characters leads/LNs since I turned to an adult officially myself XD weeks ago.

This is one reason I like Death March and have a fond spot for Realist Hero. Least Souma is out of HS and starting college when he's summoned.

Top Ten Light Novels in Japan for this week...
Just another reminder that we don't have any way to continue Alderamin in English legally. =[
-
@terrence wait what?? Why is that?? Alderamin was on my PTR list but with a low priority but ever since the last chapter of the manga, it really got me hanging with that final scene, I need explanations!!!

It was in the top ten sellers in Japan this week, but no license for the light novel stateside yet is all I'm saying. Dunno which publisher would have to license that one.

I'm going to go ahead and suggest tie-in novels in general. Whether or not they're as profitable as series, they would go a long way to attracting attention from fans of anime-originals and the like. As an offhand example, Yuuki Yuuna is a Hero has the tie-in novel Nogi Wakaba is a Hero, chronicling the first generation of Heroes(as well as several others).

Just started rewatching Bodacious Space Pirates / Miniskirt Space Pirates / Moretsu Pirates / Minisuka Uchū Kaizoku, I consider it a enjoyable light sci-fi series... And it's only now that I notice that it was adapted from a light novel, as with other works. AFAIK It's a completed series as well.
I haven't seen translations of it anywhere, and I think it's relatively recent enough... And it's been mentioned here twice.
-
@appalling Now that you bring that up, I'm very surprised Viz hasn't licensed the Black Clover tie-ins yet since there are characters who appeared in the manga some time ago now, but were introduced in one of those novels.
Also, is this the one the author wrote about in Neechuu's afterword? Sokushi Cheat ga Saikyou Sugite, Isekai no Yatsura ga Marude Aite ni Naranai n desu ga.
I'm interested in it, all the same. Reading a description I could find, apparently used the surname Dannoura in another series, lol.

Funny how only a slight difference in the setting makes such a huge difference :o This series is vaguely similar, except that instead of guy gets summoned and is the only one who didn't get powers, it's the entire class gets powers, but guy was randomly outside the teleport range and got to stay in the real world, but with powers :v

@myskaros Pffft that sound hilarious. If there's an LN, I would be down.
-
@nico
There is an LN, it's just not translated. The first chapter of the manga adaptation of it was recently scanlated though. -
@aruseus493
Then why don't I see it on LNDB? I wouldn't normally take MAL to be faster on the uptake for any kind of novels, but regardless of whether that's usually the case (don't have enough experience), it's probably because of the manga being a thing.As for that manga, well, I've been steering less and less towards scanlations, but I still have to for some things at the end of the day, so depending on how soon a few more chapters are released, I might give it a go.

-
@myskaros Haha, I guess I just checked there first because it generally loads stuff faster than what else I could find, but if I can see the legit Japanese name (like I would in most cases, including here), I could probably do with checking Amazon...
But that's kind of a shame, in a way, because I kind of expected as much from such an odd ball sounding thing, it does make me more curious.
-
@nico In looking for info on the above series, I did consistently see recommendations instead for Everyone Else is a Returnee, a Korean light novel that appears to be rather well-liked.
-
@nico
LNDB isn't actually much better than MAL. It certainly has more information regarding the entries, but it's run entirely by users submitting stuff. Honestly, I've half-abandoned it because the admin is the only one that can fix big screw ups and he's pretty much MIA.
