Synopsis : The "new sibling romantic comedy" revolves around Masamune Izumi, a light novel author in high school. Masamune's little sister is Sagiri, a shut-in girl who hasn't left her room for an entire year. She even forces her brother to make and bring her meals when she stomps the floor. Masamune wants his sister to leave her room, because the two of them are each other's only family.

Masamune's novel illustrator, pen name "Eromanga," draws extremely perverted drawings, and is very reliable. Masamune had never met his illustrator, and figured he was just a disgusting, perverted otaku. However, the truth is revealed… that his "Eromanga-sensei" is his own younger sister! To add to the chaos that erupts between the siblings, a beautiful, female, best-selling shoujo manga creator becomes their rival!

To be fair, it really is different in that they don't meet till one is like 14 and one's 12, or something like that. Far past the Westermarck Effect's boundaries.

Issue is, the author seems rather obsessed with this topic, so it's still a bit creepy.

Another series haunted by the “my parents are either dead or traveling abroad, so we live at home alone lol” trope.
I honestly hated the anime, so I can’t see myself ever reading this tbh.

@dtta It's just one of those "I want it both ways" technicalities that just does a piss-poor job of actually hiding someone's improprieties. Like, all it does is make it clear that he's perfectly aware that it's considered socially inappropriate so he has to construct a hoop to jump through in order to make it "technically OK." Like "she has the body of a child but she's technically a 700-year-old vampire so it's totally not pedophilia guys."

Anime idea time: 300 year old vampire looks like little girl, she goes to elementary, teacher accidentally fondled vampire, it is photo now, vamp be like be my $€× slave or else. It's ok because she is over 18 and so is teacher.

Honestly, there's more issues for me with Daughter.

                    spoiler

is faaaar creepier than this one. Oreimo, on the other hand...

This is why For my Daughter is a guilty pleasure for me at least. Also yeah the author for Eromanga sensei is a bit creepy. I personally dropped the anime in like episode 3 like I usually do for most anime I don’t plan to continue watching. The only anime I saw fully having to do to the incest genre was “A little sister is all you need” and that was due to there actually not being any incest other than the LN the mc is writing(at least for the anime) not sure about the LN. But gotta admit the first minute of the anime was almost a deal breaker tho.

I like Eromanga-sensei. It's a fun romcom and I give out a lot of heroine points to a few of them. Main heroine is worst heroine though.

Oh geez I didn’t realize that’s where Daughter went, guess I’m not going to read past volume 1 for that one

@the-green-death #1 & #2 are completely wholesome and cute - I have no problem with my kids reading those. And then just leave it there if you want it to stay that way.

This would be a good license to pick up. Rakudai Kishi no Eiyuutan is still at the top of my list though.

Spotlight time! A friendly bump to an older post that hasn't had any recent conversation and is lower on votes in order to draw attention to it.

It would be so lovely to get an official translation of the Eromanga-sensei Light Novel. The Anime was really great.
