ぼくたちのリメイク 十年前に戻ってクリエイターになろう!
YouTube Trailer:
https://youtu.be/lD14R8-hCjsWhat is this?
As indicated by the title, it's a time travel story. But I'll take you through a bit of what I read in the next two questions.
What was the protagonist doing in the present day?
He was working at a shady independent game studio as their only employee, working on everything from marketing to graphics design. The loansharks unfortunately get to the boss before he can finish his cross media manga + Visual Novel project. So now our hero is without a job. He gets some calls from the industry to join other teams, but he can't help but feel down that his dream turned into this. The final nail in the coffin is seeing the success of all the young people who went to a college he was eyeing during his HS days, a college he chose not to go to as he didn't think it was the safe choice.
So What Happens?
He's sitting at home on his bed exhausted after all this, and suddenly his sister, who is an adult married woman, tries to wake him up... While wearing a school uniform. He thinks she's playing him, but little by little he realizes he has in fact time-travelled back to the time of that fateful college choice. He decides to go for it and pick the college he did not last time...
I got a little bit further with my reading of this. I'm 99% positive his roommates at the dorm in college are the successful creatives from his future, and I assume there will be some romance (possible love triangle? I don't know).
Why Would This Be Good for JNC?
It's a traditional time-travel tale. It involves college age characters, which we don't have a ton of. It's about creatives, so I assume we'll get some neat info about the industries these folks eventually get involved in after college.
It has an anime adaptation coming as well!
How Many Volumes?
7 Volumes out in Japan as of December 25th, 2019, along with one spinoff volume (which is important to the main story).
Publisher?
Kadokawa / Media Factory. MF Bunko J label.

you got my vote with college age characters. Needed a little break from the teenage mc's.
-
That... Actually doesn't sound too bad.
-
Yeah, it was up there in Kono Light Novel Ga Sugoi too.
"A series that has been selected as the 4th ranking in the bunko department new work, 6th in the total".

Apparently the author and illustrator are doing some talk event on the 27th at I believe the Amusement Media Sougou Gakuin.

Adults instead of highschoolers, sign me up too
-
Adult protagonist? Sign me in.
-
I'm always up for more romcoms. Time travel stuff also tickles my interest. Here's my vote.

Some volume 5 images here. It releases on the 25th.

Main character nods in approval of female to female friendship hug. Truly a man of culture.
Also, there's a volume 5 poster image:

College-age characters and time travel? Sounds like my kind of story for sure. +1

I have questions.
Rather, I have a question:
Does he acutally bother to do jack with his new chance? Or does he just sign up for collage and then farts around? It kinda looks like the fart around variant to me that always talks big at the start about doing everything better and then never delivers. I hope I'm wrong but I'll wait for an answer. -

I hope I'm wrong but I'll wait for an answer.I feel like he kind of has to do something with his chance based on the premise and the subtitle specifically mentioning "creative" days. At the very least, he's establishing professional and personal relationships with folks in industries he was interested in.
The opening scene at the dorms is definitely a "fart around" scene though (he falls asleep on his futon, wakes up to find a girl sleeping nearby, freaks and gets caught in an awkward situation when the rest of their roomates show up). xD
I'll read a bit more of volume 1 after October 15th (after this huge wave of J-Novel prepubs expires) and bump with some more info.
You could look at some Japanese Bookmeter reviews (I'd clean them up after some barebones Google Translation, but I don't want any real spoiler material).

I saw this tweet. Dunno what it's referring to. The first line is about a comic. I don't know what the line about song planning is. And I wonder what the spin-off is referring to.
Either way, sounds like it's doing ok to have a lot of cross media content planned.
【Media mix one after another! 】 Comic rise, image song planning, spin-off planning also decided "remake of ours" series 1 to 5 volumes are on sale now! This artwork you are reading by artists, illustrators and other various creators.

@terrence
Basically, this novel is getting a manga adaptation (コミカライズ), image songs (probably character-focused) and a spin-off.
"Volumes 1~5 on sale now to rave reviews."
Can't really make out the last part properly with my limited knowledge of Japanese... but that's about it for the announcements at least. -

image songs.
Thanks. Do they do this for other Manga / LN that don't have anime?
I know Grimgar got character songs for the anime. Konosuba gets character songs using anime voices.
I put a link to the website in the OP; doesn't appear to be too much info there on these cross media aspects, but it does have character bios and also some historical things that happened in 2006 where the story takes place (such as Japan being a representative of the inaugural World Baseball Classic).

Looks like imagery of the manga adaptation:
-
Ranked 7th in Kono Light Novel Ga Sugoi Bunkobon category after ranking 6th last year! =D
-
The manga adaptation is being fan-scanlated. By the way, you might want to include the Romaji title as I couldn't find this post with it.
Bokutachi no Remake
Think I might work on an LNDB page for it.Made an LNDB Page.

@aruseus493 Was in the suggestion list under "Boku-tachi." I removed the hyphen.
-
@myskaros I typically just use the J-NC search at the top right for quick searching. It's pretty useful.

Volume 6 releases on March 25th. =]
