Should I get kindle?

Been buying hard copies from local store and using smart phone to read epubs, worked fine so far. But amount of hard copies begun to pile up, hence why I would prefer to buy digital from now on.
After looking at various stores and series I am interested in, I decided that it is about time I get myself a Kindle. I have no previous experience with it from the past, hence why I would like to ask people here how they feel about it.
Do people who own Kindle find it useful or should I stick with a smartphone instead? -

@sinnoaria You bring forth good points. My only reason for getting kindle is because amazon sell a lot of digital books that I would like to read and having bigger screen. Though I can get kindle app on my phone, I never actually tried using it.
As for reading, I usually read in the bed or on the train. What tablet would you recommend? (no need to worry about budget and stuff) -
If you prefer to have a dedicated reader, I can advise the Fire 7. Get it, install Google Play on it (google it), and then get an epub reader (i.e. Moon+ Reader).
This allows you to have the best of both worlds: the ability to read kindle only, as well as epubs.
Personally though, I prefer to use my phone as I will always have it on me. But if I want to use the TTS capabilities of a kindle book, then the Fire is the only way to go.

I use my 6" amoled screen phone with the Kindle app with the background set to black, plus use Calibre to convert/send the premium epubs from here, plus I straight up Amazon buy the Yen On stuff.
I started buying through Google Play Books but then Yen ditched Australia so I had the current books & could re-download them luckily but couldn't buy any more through them, which meant switching reader apps mid series which is a pain in the butt.
My biggest advice is to try not to lock yourself into a single ecosystem & stay as flexible as you can, cause other than with J-Novel's DRM free stuff, the other mobs could screw you at any time.
TL;DR - phone or tablet of your choice + your choice of app, possibly with Calibre on PC or Mac to manage any conversions/sending.
If you need that e-ink screen for eye strain, then you need it & there aren't many non-Kindle options these days.

If its going to be a pad, it has to be based on Android. No iPad, period. No Windows crap either.@fozzedout Book format is not an issue, as @smashman42 mentioned, it you can easily convert from one format to another using third party software.
I guess I stay clear of kindle for now and have to look in what pads are currently available on the market and what general reviews say about them. Having a pad is just more flexible then kindle, I suppose. -
@zing I bought a Kindle after using Android tablets for Kindle content for a while. The tablets have better resolution, can do other things, making them more practical.
Except, for "just reading", the Kindle works better. Less weight than my 10" tablets, slightly less likely to be damaged if I drop them when I fall asleep, and easier on the eyes.
I suggest borrowing one for a while. It could be that none of this is relevant to you. The Kindle app for Android and others works very well; about the only thing you can't do is (officially) "borrow" Kindle content on Prime.

Don't have a kindle, so can't really comment on those, but since I got my Samsung Galaxy Tab A10.1 a few months ago I've been using it a lot for both reading ebooks, jnc prepubs, manga & comics and I think it works great.
When I bought it it was mostly because it was one of the cheapest options (while avoiding "odd" brands) that had 1920x1200 resolution, rather than the lower 1024x600 or similar of the cheaper ones. Not sure how much the resolution matters for books, but since I intended to use it for reading manga as well, I figured I'd rather have one with higher resolution.
Though size-wise I guess it's a bit on the large side for bringing on the train, unless you always happen to carry a bag with you that you can keep it in.

I use a kindle paperwhite to read basically everything except J-novel releases, since I'm too lazy to convert most of the time. It's nicer to read on than a tablet/monitor for sure. It's small and light enough to hold up with one hand, the screen is front lit, so no light shining right in the eyes, and the battery lasts longer than a normal tablet. As long as you don't mind buying stuff from amazon or converting, it's great. It's not the best for viewing images though. Even aside from the lack of color, the resolution is on the low end.

I have a kindle oasis and find it pretty great for just reading too. I actually like not having all the other shit tablets have so there’s little distraction to reading.
I’m also too lazy to convert but bought a Nook for that. It’s not that I have tons of money, I just like reading a lot.

For light novels and manga, I recommend against an ereader such as a kindle paperwhite.This is so you aren't giving up color illustrations.
For tablets, the Kindle Fire series are solid and relatively cheap. However, I would only use the Kindle store for non-JNC releases, picking up the premium ebooks from JNC directly.
Last, I personally read on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. It's a bit pricey, but the screen and battery life are outstanding. Highly recommended if you read a lot on electronic devices.

I personally like my Kindle Voyage. Resolution is nice 300 ppi and it has paper book feel to it which LSD tablets/phones miss. Also glare-free screen.
I strongly recommend to try modern e-reader with 300 ppi e-ink screen and front light. -
@animej I am considering getting Samsung Galaxy Tab S4, but as you mentioned, its quite pricey. I am a bit hesitant since its pricey and I want to get one primary for the sake of reading xD
In my country, Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 10.5 Wifi 64GB will cost me 900 USD -.- -

This is true, but I'm a lazy git, and having a device that handles everything without conversion (plus the Fire kindle reader is better than the one on Google Play), it is for me a far better tool. Also, the Fire 7 is ridiculously cheap, but at a hardware cost - good for reading & videos, but not much else.
Using the Fire I can download either from Amazon or the premium epubs here and just use it without issue or delay. If I have to get a 3rd party tool involved, I just sigh and can't be bothered - it's not that I don't have the set up, but it's just so... inconvenient, especially when you are away from your computer. The less steps I have to perform to go from getting the book to reading the book, the better.
Still, if you have the set up and you don't mind the extra time, or you want a more powerful tablet / want to use an ereader, then yeah, that's the route to pursue.

Kindle is great for light novels and other ebooks. I like my Kindle Fire for that, though it's only 7", so I can't read manga on it with my old man eyes. :)
You can install Google Play on it (I have) and install things like the JNC App and Moonreader+ and Lithium, so it works fine.

@animej Well, you have a point. However, am not strapped for money and from my past experiences, if you by something high end, it will last longer then if you go for medium end device.
I gave kindle app on my htc a spin today, bought first volume of shield hero. Not too thrilled about the app, no night mode as far as I can tell xD -
I won 100$ of a 5$ scratch lotto ticket so which made me go buy a new IPad the lastest model since the iPad mini I had was a first gen and low on gigs and was giving me problems. I was originally going to buy the previous model before the 6th gen but since I won 100$. I figured I’d just get the lastest model. I like reading only on my iPad. I can’t read it anywhere else other than my iPhone and IPad.

@hyferzftw They are most likely gonna announce a new iPad in September alongside other new stuff...just saying in case you wanna return that one and wait for the new new one
