[New Life+] Young Again in Another World
-
Why was "[New Life+] Young Again in Another World" discontinued?
-
@dannyboy7702 Here is JNC's official statement:
if you want more info see this topic
-
@rahul-balaggan That blows. I liked that book. I wonder what problematic statements were made.
-
@dannyboy7702 If you read through the topic i mentioned in my last post it goes into detail on the situation.
-
@rahul-balaggan Missed the link. Just saw it. Thanks

The manga came back after everything that happened so maybe next year it will return. Another author got slashed for inappropriate child content on his pc, and he got to continue publishing after a while so hopefully MINE comes back. I bought the first three volumes as they releases so I really want the rest of them.
Note: You can still buy the Kindle versions of the novel, but they will only be in Japanese lol.
-
@rahul-balaggan well [New Life+] Young Again in Another World
come back or is it dead for good -
@akeno-xenovia unfortunately not my decision to make, as of right now the LN is still on hiatus in Japan, maybe if Japan starts publishing the Light Novel once again then JNC might start the LN translation too.
For now all we can do is wait...
-
Only the manga has resumed for now. But I guess that's a good sign (partially) at least.
-
Don't know what to make of this, but while updating the wiki page, I checked the page for [New Life +], and if appears that the title is available for purchase in Japan on Amazon.
That would be a change from it's previous status, wouldn't it? And yes, that's the Light Novel, not the Manga.
-
@paul-nebeling nah the LN never came off of amazon
-
@rahul-balaggan So don't read too much into it. Still, I am wondering if things are about to change.
-
The light novels have even gone on price off sale on Bookwalker (with the rest of their collection, so don't read too much into it) and I've seen them use New Life as a banner image for the HJ Web Novel Awards (might have already been up there before the controversy, idk).
-
Well I hope it comes back soon.
-
I've heard some conflicted information about this novel in regards as to why it got pulled. Some sources claim it is because MC is a Japanese soldier that killed a bunch of Chinese during WW2 and the author said something to piss the Chinese even further.
If I wanted to read something that was politically correct, I would have bought a western novel.
-
@zing well I didn’t really notice until it was mentioned but you honestly need to know Japanese history also Korean and Chinese history as well. Otherwise you won’t notice it. Also Only really gets mentioned in volume 1 from what I heard. I’m not saying it right or wrong I personally don’t care. For me it’s a fantasy LN and don’t care. Goes for about almost any LN I read.
-
@zing I don't think we officially know why, but the speculation is that, when it was announced to have gotten an anime, enough connected people in China raised a stink to get the anime canceled, then all the controversy about MINE's settings for Renya came into the spotlight. At that point, it was just a PR minefield, so HJ probably pulled it to save face more than anything.
-
@zing If you're REALLY interested, there's a link above (just under the "official JNC statement") to the longer thread discussing this.
-
Controversy or not it was still a decent story. It sucks it hasn’t been continued yet since I had to go back to finding English fan translations online but oh well. If they ever continue it again I’ll be sure to continue supporting it.
-
i really enjoyed the manga and wanted to catch up on the light novel since i remembered that it was on this site in the past so this sucks, it was an entertaining story regardless of any sentiments the author may have i hope it comes back one day
