Just gonna say it once more as of right now, the Bakarina Light Novel is not getting a print release.

Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.

@paul-nebeling Hope you saw the replies that there are no public plans so far for the light novels getting printed (Sam could be planning it for all we know though). Amazon is just very confusing and lists a paperback option, but that is simply Seven Seas' manga version.

Eh, everybody knows that Bakarina will receive a print version anyway. It's only a matter of time. Just like almost every isekai.

@legitpancake I assumed Ragnarok but I hadn’t heard Verwolf (I use “V” for Veight) had bad sales.

@legitpancake Really, the cover look quite good?
Well as long at the story is good, the picture don't really matter.

Have never heard that Ragnarok's sales are bad either, he probably just means it as an isekai without a print-release yet.

But we do know that Bakarina's sales are high, there's little place for suspense.

@novurdim I'm just saying that based on Amazon reviews and sales numbers, Ragnarok seems to only be selling averagely, if not mediocre. And with it having 16+ volumes, it needs to sell a lot better in order to warrant a physical release.

@legitpancake You can always do an omnibus release, pretty sure sooner or later we'll see those from JNC too, it may sell less than other isekai but it still probably sells better than almost everything else. Either way exceptions just support the rule, that's why I didn't say "every isekai", in theory we can even all together think very hard and find another isekai that might not get a print release, but what's the point, really. Most will anyway. It would actually be more interesting to speculate about a few non-isekai series that can achieve the feat.

@novurdim I doupt Bluesteel blasphemer, Echo or Me a genius are going to get a print either. And Welcome to japan Ms elf doesn’t seem to be going in the right direction to get one.
Isekai may be more popular as a whole but that doesn’t mean they're all popular and will all get a print.

Does Echo have pictures? That could be a cheaper Print On Demand type run.

Wait, is Echo even considered an isekai? Anyway, it's a one-shot without pictures (I think? I should just read it already) just like Haru and Last Idol, those have much higher chances for a print by default.
I also won't be surprised in the least when Genius gets its print run. It's very short and I vividly remember Sam's reply on CuriousCat that the 1-st volume is selling great.
And ha! Welcome to japan Ms elf is a reverse-isekai! I got ya!
Since it looks like you guys are kind of missing my point, who's up for more failure isekai suggestions?

@novurdim Don't know if it's consider an isekai but the whole story is about people trap in an other world, if that not isekai nothing is. There picture in it, you should try reading it, it's good with a really interesting world. But i don't think it sell enough to get a print release unlike JK haru which did well and Last and first idole is getting a print likely to trying to appeal to SF fan and maybe also because Sam seem to love that book.
Yeah me a genius may get a print even more since it's short.
Miss Elf is both reverse and normal isekai, at least if the tag are to be trust.
Well the whole point of thoose exemple was that isekai != succes or being print, i don't know how well Ragnarok is doing but if it's not really good, being an isekai won't help.

@terrence it's has some picture, in fact quite a lot for a book that size, a little more than 15 i think.

But in the end they have only proved my point that the vast majority of prints, to say the least, will be isekai since failures in that category are far in-between. With JNC's library being abundantly full with isekai, we can only think of a few that have a chance of not making it to the print.

But, really, it's not something to argue about, I was just making a silly snark about the saddening isekai dominance. So sure, let's go with your interpretation. I'm more surprised to hear about Echo, it looks so far removed from any typical LN-isekai appeal and more like weird mind-boggling epos in the vein of Yume Nikki and Last Idol that it makes me wonder if it even can be marketed to the same crowd lol

@novurdim Echo is similar to Yume Niki (it's by the same author), not really Last and first idole tho. If we take isekai for it's definition then it's definitly an isekai, but yeah it's really not for the same reader, you can find regular isekai with part similar to Echo tho.

Echo appeal doesn't lie within regular Isekai fan's interest since it didn't come from webnovel or LN bachground. (It's an adaptation of a vocaloid song if I recall)

General question: would print releases include premium content? I mean bonus stories etc. I’d not expect bonus clean color illustrations

                                            I read banned books
